For $5, you could do worse than this brief-but-bewitching platformer. [Nov 2011, p.79]

It's a short, cheap, and fun game, and the difficulty curve seems just right.

The charming Tobe's Vertical Adventure surfaces nostalgic memories of Spelunky, but suffers a common indie issue of thin content - forgettable level designs, simplistic monster design, uninspired and repeated cutscenes and repetitive music. The three game modes (coop, Tobe or Nana) serve as a gimmick since level designs do not differ. While controls can be unresponsive at times, the gameplay offers a satisfying - although simplistic and unoriginal - experience for platform lovers. The speedrun achievements offer a challenge to achievement hunters out there, even though they feel like needless and gimmicky padding. Full Review »
