Thankfully, War for Cybertron impresses with an excellent single-player campaign with full co-op support, the included Horde-alike Escalation mode, and surprisingly deep and inventive online multiplayer component.
  2. A little bit more polish could have made this game a blockbuster title.
  3. It's the first game I've played that nails the personality of the bots and it genuinely delivers a solid gaming experience alongside the nostalgia.
  4. The sound, except the voices (Peter Cullen is Optimus Prime, who else?), isn't remarkable either, so in the end the question boils down to: is War for Cybertron worth it? The answer is yes, but with some minuses, because there are plenty of problems ruining a nicely done story and the thrilling multiplayer is killed by technical hick-ups that shouldn't have been there in the first place.
  5. A competent shooter that makes the best of its license. Those early 80s cartoons have been suitably honoured. [Sept 2010, p.100]
  6. War for Cybertron is a huge leap forward compared to previous Transformers games.
  7. Its campaign is only worth seeing through if you're extremely curious to see how it ties into some of the other Transformers lore out there, and the multiplayer is solid, if perhaps a bit uninspired. It's a good diversion that'll keep you engaged for a few days, but don't go in expecting long-term excitement.

This is a must buy for shooter fans and Transformers fans alike. A very gratifying game. It's has small lag spikes every hour or so, but that was the only problems I had. The shooting mechanics are very solid, too. Expand

I will start this review by saying that growing up as a child, I never watched Transformers nor knew anything about them. I only got into Transformers like many today because I enjoyed the movies, and so I decided to pick up War for Cybertron and give it a try. After playing through it and seeing everything it had to offer, I can wholeheartedly say that this game made me wish I would have been a Transformers fan all my life. The story telling in this game is absolutely fantastic, and really includes some nostalgic moments such as how Optimus and Bumblebee met during the war. The voice acting is very well done, anchored by none other than Peter Cullen himself as Optimus Prime. Gameplay wise, the game feels incredibly fluid and works well as a third person shooter. The transformations are great, and I really like how High Moon Studios made fighting in both transformer and vehicle mode viable. Multiplayer plays well, but it is unfortunate that not enough people are still online so the only game mode really available is death match. Escalation mode is a nice addition and plays very similar to Call of Duty's zombie mode, but it's anything majorly noteworthy. All in all, not only is this a terrific Transformers game, it is a terrific shooter game all in it's own. Hardcore Transformers fans should not miss this by any means, and even if you are not a Transformers fan (as I wasn't really), it may be time to pick this game up and see what the robots in disguise are truly all about. An extremely nostalgic third person shooter with robots. And its not bad either. The firefights are fun, the weapons are easily recognisable after a few plays, and it feels well made. Compared to past Transformers games, I would give it a 10. However, its not THE BEST third person shooter out there so it ultimately gets an 8 from me. Expand

One of the better Transformer games with a nice Single-player, Co-Op & multiplayer mode let down by its short very longevity all in all Transformers: War for Cybertron is a love letter and Transformers game that the G1 fan have been waiting for. Expand

Movie style presentation, eye candy galore, consent action sequences, talkative characters. A lot of style over a serious lack of substantial gameplay sadly. You get to see huge interior and exterior backdrops that give the illusion of large grandiose levels.Though in all reality there is not a lot to do and not a lot of space to do it in. I liked this game but not as much as I hoped I would. War for Cybertron is far too linear and scripted for my tastes to be of any lasting replay value. Expand

You can not rebind your keys for the PC version. I don't believe it is hard to program in the ability to change keys. I wont even bother trying to play it because of that simple reason alone. Expand
