Game is still in beta but multiplayer experience is awesome. Game is created in Unity engine and has Linux support. Verdun is similar to Red Orchestra but it is placed in WWI. Expand

Great mix of gamemodes. First is the open field battle with hundreds of online players on the same map, split into 2 teams, in which you make or join squads of 4. Imagine it like Planetside in a WWI setting, but with NO pay-to-win aspect.

For a change of pace, there is a second mode, Rifle Deathmatch (free-for-all): smaller map, 2 second respawns, everyone running around with bolt-action rifles.

This game is great. It's a ww1 fps that uses trench warfare which is very different than the standard modern military fps. The only downside is the slight lag when you kill someone, it takes about half a second for it to register the shot and show the death animation. But that doesn't matter much as at the time of writing this the game is in early access.

Overall this game is addicting and very fun. It would be amazing if they added a higher player count for truly epic battles.

Firstly, I should say the game is still in open beta, so it gets a little laggy at times. Death animations look a bit weird for now, and the graphics are average thus far. It's obviously a game that is still in full development.

But for a beta, it's amazing! Completely different experience from COD. The trench battles are intense and team-based gameplay is ESSENTIAL to victory. This is already the best WW1 FPS experience I've ever played, and it's getting better all the time. It has great ideas, a small but dedicated (and lovely) playerbase, and I could not recommend this more. Yes, it has flaws, but it's a goddamn beta! If it's this good now, I can't wait for the finished version.
    Available on Steam Early Access

I got this game off of steam as early access. Although it is in beta, and is made by a small group of developers, this is some of the finest WWI shooting i have ever experienced. It has a hardcore, similar playstyle to that of red orchestra/rising storm/insurgency to it in the sense that its generally one-hit realistic kills, explosions and trench war-fare. All players are actually on one server, and it divides each player into squads in which you fight together and level-up in. It's quite a neat and intuitive system built for playing together as a squad, and not a lot of empty server issues as new lower budget fps tend to have. I would definitely pick this game up even in beta if you are a fan of realism/WWI/trench warefare/history or the like. I have only played a couple of hours and im already hooked. Expand

I've put many hours into this game in hope it will become a decent ww1 fps shooter but it just feels unpolished and bland. I got fps issues in the game after some update despite the fact that the graphics look horrible. The graphics are just horrenderously bad as if my graphics card is throwing up, the character design looks depressing and the animations are terrible and make you laugh out. The sound effects are mediocore, the map design looks bland and uninspired. The game is utterly generic and the playerbase is laughably tiny. I know it's still in beta but i'm pretty sure that almost nothing will change in the future, it will even get worse. I'm done with this garbage. Expand
