  • Summary: Strap into one of six unique starfighters and get ready for the best space combat action to be found in this solar system: Void War. Simple, easy-to-learn controls let you focus on flying and fighting through awesome 3D battlefields. Void War is a unique blend of space-combat simulation, old-school arcade-style action, and run-and-gun thrills of first-person shooters. The single-player campaign propels you into a tongue-in-cheek story of rescue as you do battle against some of the most lethal weirdoes in the galaxy. Alternately, the "Free For All" mode will let you hone your skills in a no-holds-barred brawl in 3D space. Two multiplayer modes allow you to jump into battles with friends and strangers to prove who is the best fighter pilot in the galaxy. Online match-making servers let you find games to join quickly and easily. Prepare to join the ranks of the elite. [Rampant Games] Expand

  1. Positive: 1 out of 7
  2. Negative: 1 out of 7
  1. The first time that I was the exploder instead of the explodee I think I scared my fish with the hollering. It’s so fun to see the pieces go flying!
  2. Despite a few flaws and a slight learning curve most people will enjoy Void War for what it is, a fast paced single player space shooter with gameplay reminiscent of Asteroids.
  3. Reasonably entertaining space-shooty madness. [Dec 2004, p.104]
  4. Void War was truly built for the multiplayer experience; its importance is so worthy of note, that it’s point number one I’ll make in this conclusion. Get a bunch of your friends together to while away an hour or two, blasting each other in the ass. With your spaceship, I mean.
  5. Not an enthralling, tour-de-force of gaming but some great fun in short blasts, like more games should be.
  6. The story line is cliqued, the gameplay is a 3-D blaster norm, and the graphics are just above standard. Then you have the standard multiplayer experience thrown in to eek more out of the game and its engine. Which is good, except that at this point in time, there is no one to play with, literally!
  7. The bottom line is that this game is amateurish and not that much fun to play. For the same price, or less if you shop around, you can go out and buy "Freelancer."
