  • Summary: Four years have passed since the aftermath of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, and a great tension now smolders throughout the ravaged world of Azeroth. As the battle-worn races begin to rebuild their shattered kingdoms, new threats, both ancient and ominous, arise to plague the world once again. World of Warcraft is an online role-playing experience set in the award-winning Warcraft universe. Players assume the roles of Warcraft heroes as they explore, adventure, and quest across a vast world. Being "Massively Multiplayer," World of Warcraft allows thousands of players to interact within the same world. Whether adventuring together or fighting against each other in epic battles, players will form friendships, forge alliances, and compete with enemies for power and glory. A dedicated live team will create a constant stream of new adventures to undertake, lands to explore, and monsters to vanquish. This content ensures that the game will never be the same from month to month, and will continue to offer new challenges and adventures for years to come. [Blizzard Entertainment] Expand

There's always a hesitation in giving something 10 since you are essentially saying that it's perfect but as things stand now that's exactly what World of Warcraft deserves.

A tremendous product. Wonderfully fun and thrilling, inspiring and energiz[ing], just a great amount of fun.
  3. Fix your game, Blizzard. Listen to your players, actually cater to the high end, fix bugs that need fixing, and don't leave your playerbase hanging for months on end. Then I will give your game a higher mark.

The time when World of Warcraft was THE MMO. It wasn't the down-booted bantha crap that is now. This was the time when the game made you actually think about tactics, professions and others. Hell, if you compare the mounts' level and prices, you should know what I mean: Vanilla: Lvl40: around 100g,normal mount. Cataclysm/WOTLK: Lvl40: less than 100g and EPIC mount. Getting Items was another thing. When I got my first epic item, I was incredibly happy (I still remember which item it was). In newer expansions: Completely unexperienced kids running around in Full Epic because they did a heroic with some other kid who MIGHT had some XP in the game. I even had a full-epic off set from the stupid Triumph badges that dropped from heroics. To sum up, If you feel yourself as a beginner in MMOs, you might wanna try the newer Expansions first, but when you're tired of the no-challanges, you'll defineatly wanna try one of the Vanilla Private servers. 2. I’m going to attempt the virtual impossibility that is a review of World of Warcraft. Firstly let me give you an idea of what this game is. WoW is a MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer online Role playing game) based after the events of it RTS (Real time Strategy) predecessors. You claim the role of the hero of Azeroth fighting for either the Horde or the Alliance. (good and Evil) you create a character based from a number of fantasy style character including orcs, trolls, humans and Dwarves, and also choosing a class to which that character will form his or her part of the story. The impossible task I was referring to is that WoW is more like a lifestyle than a game. Those who play it generally forfeit food, sleep, work and social time (please bear in mind I am a player of this game so I am not digging at people in that comment) This game has been hailed as the biggest and most successful MMORPG of all time and rightly so as none of it competitors have reached the same level of active players! Right enough of that onto the game; GAMEPLAY I’ll start here with Gameplay. Once you have created a character, which usually only take about 10 minutes to do and less if you aren’t too fussy about what your character looks like, The game then gives you a small narrative as why you have been plonked onto the world. Controlwise the game Is pretty simple, you can use the cursor keys or the mouse to navigate the world looking for NPC’s (Non player character) with big yellow ! marks above theirs heads. These are known as Quest givers and point you to do a task or to go somewhere, when a quest is complete you gain experience and gold which allow your character to progress. I like the simplicity of this game. To kill something you click on it and the Character hits it with a stick :D lovely! Then click the corpse to loot it. That is pretty much all there is to the general movey killy stuff! Next is the interaction part. The game is full of other people sitting at home with their energy drinks and chicken nuggets that you can interact with, via chat and emotes that give the game a little bit of an organic feel, Horde and Alliance have two separate languages so you are unable to communicate with the opposing faction, so instead you hit them with sticks in much the same manner. There are little dungeons called instances which allow a group of 6 people to kill monsters without the interruption of other players! The monsters are generally harder than in the normal game world and require team work to play (Bloody hell might get to an opinion soon soooooo much to explain!) My opinion! I have spent on and off 4 years playing this game and have levelled up many characters in this time, I’m a member of a very friendly guild and have grown a nice bond with them. To gameplay to me is fantastic! HOWEVER I get very bored of the “go over there, kill 25 rabbits, come back so I can send you to kill 25 more rabbit” YAWN, the game lacks a variety in quest styles, Kill this, kill that, go here, go there, collect this and collect that… if it wasn’t for the interaction with other players this game would be fundamentally flawed so cannot give it a 10 GAMEPLAY = 6/10 – great fun if you are with people playing. But on your own it is very dull! GRAPHICS Ok this is a huge game with huge amounts of people playing! Soo graphics are not going to be like the recent release of Skyrim. Although it is very colourful and bright and feels “fantasy” which is how it should (Well done Blizzard!) I have spoken to people who have played other MMORPG’s who find this colour and bit childish and cartooney! I say “Screw you!” I like the cartoony colourful and slightly dated graphics it adds character and allows for the developers to include humour without looking like an idiot! (Twice well done blizzard!) If I wanted a serious game I would look elsewhere! (I’m looking at you Final fantasy MMO lovers out there) The game in recent updates has brought forward the graphics and made the game smoother and more realistic without losing the colour and the “fantasy” feel! The graphics makes the game appeal to many age ranges and I think this has helped in making the game the success it is. GRAPHICS – 9/10 – I may be biased but I love the pretty colours :D OVERALL The game is big, I mean REALLY big! Endless things to do and lots of fun when playing with friends (real ones or pretend ones you make in the game) anyone who buys this game and likes it should be prepared to lose a lot of time playing it! There is no middle ground you love it or hate it! It is an addiction and should be monitored if your children are playing it as it will consume a lot of their time. OVERALL – 6/10 – really great game if you get hooked, but should be played with friends and other people. Remember though kids you will NOT get a Girlfriend/Boyfriend while playing this game ;) Expand

  3. It was a good game for its time in past. Now it just turned into reward/hour with daily/weekly caps grindfest, where developer makes a plan of the week for all players and expect players to blindly grind according to his plan of the week or just stay behind the rat race. Add to this old, old graphics and the last cataclysm expansion with ARROGANT voice acting wannabe, made by one ninja dev who thinks he is multitalented (ok 2 people - one male and one female). It ended up the way that puts each player in the place of grandson listening to grandpa's fairy tale with grandpa modulating voice for each character in his tale. Its just insulting for monthly subscription and expansion's price. Some says: it doesnt matter how you start - it matters how you finish. WoW's finish is disgusting. Expand
