X-COM: Enforcer Image
  • Summary: Microprose has abandoned the suspenseful, tactical combat inherent in the previous installments of the "X-COM" series in favor of a pure, straightforward arcade action format with more than 30 levels of non-stop shooting from a third-person perspective.

  1. The levels are short and there are lots of them (about 40 total, not counting bonus levels), the weapons are varied as are the aliens, the locales are well-drawn and fun, and the screen is almost continually packed with stuff dying. What more could you want in escapist arcade entertainment?

Although it's not a perfect game by any means (I don't think we've found one yet), it's old-skool fun at its best. Lock and load baby -- it's time to save humanity one more time.
  3. This might be a good example of what some teenager could do with the Unreal engine, a Commodore 64 and 2 sticks of chewing gum, but it's a poor example of a good game.

A thousand words cant explain the fun I have had the 6 times I have beaten this game. Although the game doesn't really compete with todays standards, back when it came out, it was hard to quit. Any game that makes me want to go back in time deserves a 10. Expand

Mindless fun but certainly tarnish on the X-Com name. Pretty random (ex. Collect letters to spell BONUS ala Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, and dive into a boxing ring with two muton while data points spring from no where like a fountain) Reminded me of Doom - kill bad guys, get through level, receive mission score, rinse and repeat. Went into it not expecting much and was not disappointed. Expand
