To top off a growing tower of gripes, navigation around space in Rebirth is an astounding hassle.
  2. Dec 2, 2013
No matter what happens with stability and bug-fixing patches, its poor controls, awful interface, and dull pacing ensure that X Rebirth will remain unpleasant for all but the most forgiving, die-hard space jockeys.

X: Rebirth will get better over time, and anyone who’s open-minded enough to look past the ‘X’ branding and see the ‘game’, may even find many hours of entertainment.
  4. Dec 3, 2013
You can (barely) fathom some good ideas about offering the players more accessibility in a saga that surely needed some, but they soon get lost in the utter and complete mess of unfinished mechanics and bugs that, sadly, is X Rebirth.
  5. Dec 11, 2013
Long story short: In its current state, X Rebirth is just a sad affair.
  6. Jan 7, 2014
Patches may stop the glitches, but I think this space sim is far beyond repair.
  7. Nov 25, 2013
Somewhere in this mess is an X as you know and like it: Smaller, but prettier and with a solid foundation. But with problems like game-stopping bugs and bad design decisions all the ambition goes down the drain.

Just play 3-5 hours before posting a comment Some people here don't realy understand that X-rebirth is a HUUUGE game with a HUUUGE tutorial and need time to be domesticated. I put 10 to increase the general rate. Objectively for now 8... But 9 or 10 once bug ll be fixed! Expand

Yes there are bugs, yes there are issues, I've had to load a saved game more than a few times HOWEVER, I do enjoy the game, the graphics, the immersion. The new ideas brought into the game are nice and I am very much looking forward to having zero issues playing.

It is stressful to play at times since things just don't seem to work as intended or there is simply not enough direction to help with the process. I give this game an 8 out of 10 since while it does have it issues, I can see past those and find the game it was/going to be.

Here's hoping for a fix and dramatic fix ASAP.

This game is broken and is an insult to the simulation genre.

It's an arcade game posing as a simulator. Your ship has 0 functions. You
just fly through space and shoot stuff if it appears in front of you. You have no radar, no ability to lock onto anything without manually clicking on it, no cycling targets, etc. You have no way to know if an enemy ship in combat is coming up behind you unless it starts shooting at you. There is zero situational awareness.

And on top of that there was obviously no quality control because half the missions in the game are broken and require reloading and trying over and over again to get them to luckily continue. The first hour of the game took me about 3 hours to get past due to constantly relaoding upon hitting mission breaking bugs.

    Don't waste your money.

Some aspects of the game are nice. Large space stations, huge freighters and a travelling system (which is not perfect, but better than boring jump gates) are ok.

The is a huge step down. In AP with its minimalistic hud you actually felt the space, it was very immersive, but now i feel like i'm in catterpillar tractor or something. Another sad thing is that there is only one ship to pilot now. In AP you could go and get fast Boron discoverer and or a big freighter. I miss this.

Unfortunately the commercials of X Rebirth featured only the bright sides of the game. They didn't include incredibly boring, lame-textured space station corridors (which is generally not a bad idea), and so (can't find appropriate words) awful NPCs. These badly-textured robots is a huge game breaker. I really don't want to see them, to talk to them or interact in any way. They are just creepy! Unfortunately one of these space monsters lives in my even during free game. What's wrong with her clothes? What is this hole in the chest area of her costume for? I can only speculate that this is a trick to drive the look from her face. I'd add 2 points just for a feature of ejecting this monster queen from my ship.

So, for the space: +2, -8 for everything else.

Having played the X series a lot and really enjoyed them, this seems to have taken what was a really enjoyable game, chewed it up and crapped out a heap of awful. I have given the game about 5 hours, which may not be enough but from what I thought was going to be an amazing reimagining of a great franchise, but unfortunately not.

The FPS part, completely not needed, the navigation awful, and the drafting other vehicles in the space lanes.... FTW is this need for speed space?

Back to the drawing board, play some Elite and then try again Deep Silver, this should never have left the brainstorming session let alone be a released game

well, i can't say anything positive about that awful piece of packed up bits...
i always trusted egosoft and played their X series 2-3 years
ingame time but that one isn't a X-game at all, no real freedom, all station-parts are exactly the same in every station
the npc's and interactions are dumb, boring and emotionless
if i wouldn't know that it is from egosoft i would've bet that it's the result of an unknown russian gameforge that hasn't made any other game before -.-"
it's a shame that there is no way to get back the 50 bucks i spend on this...
in my opinion egsosoft should pay back twice the amount players payed for that scam

It's not even about the hundreds of bugs or lack of optimization. It is poorly designed. The game is boring, trivial, there is no complexity, control is terrible, some mini games for five year old kids. Expand
