  • Summary: You Are Empty offers players an alternative approach to the history of the late fifties of the XX century. Scene of action is the Soviet Union. Leading Soviet scientists start a big experiment that alter human physiology and mentality in order to create super humans capable of building bright future and communism all over the world. But something goes wrong... As a result the whole city, where that experiment took place, goes on a rampage. The majority of citizens died, and those who survived turned into hideous mutants - the only inhabitants of deserted streets. You Are Empty immerses you in an exaggerated dark and obscure atmosphere of Soviet totalitarianism. Fighting against mutants, that obtained super power after the experiment was carried out, the main hero tries to gain an understanding of what's happening around and save the day. [1C Company] Expand

  1. That feeling of mild disappointment is a good way to sum up You Are Empty. It feels a little behind the times and doesn't fully deliver in every respect, but it's still fun from start to finish.
  2. Any fan of the genre has already been here and done this before - probably 2-3 years ago. While the visual and aural facets of YAE are generally solid, its gameplay is not all that entertaining, and there are plenty of other titles in the genre that can offer a more entertaining and diversified gaming experience.
  3. Man, what a stinker. [Nov 2007, p.114]

Great level design, great gloomy atmosphere, great soundtrack, very arty and very well done movies in between levels. Game mechanics are a bit clunky but this is not really annoying. Enemies are also anything but smart but they're definitely fun. Though primitive in it's game design (shoot everything that comes in your way), this game somehow manages to be addictive, mainly because of the gloomy stalinist-totalitarian atmosphere. Expand

I can understand all the negative reviews but you know what? I've seen worse! This game actually has a creepy atmosphere and music that sort of sucks you in (love the cinematics)... no the graphics are not spectacular and the game does have it's flaws but in all fairness.....it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be! One of the worst games I have ever played. All enemies are stupid, lame, and all look the same. NO real plot, graphics are horrible (except for the cinematics) AVOID at all costs! Expand
