  • Summary: Call of Duty 3 delivers the intensity of being closer than ever to the fury of combat during the battle for the Liberation of Paris, the most harrowing campaign of WWII, known as The Normandy Breakout. 1. This is a markedly better game than "Call of Duty 2: Big Red One" and the finest World War II gameplay on the current-generation consoles.
  2. COD 3 pulls out all the stops to put you as close up to the action as possible, even allowing up to 24 players to experience full-on war in the online mode.
  3. Call of Duty 3 could have been more than just another copy of previous installments, but with unnecessary gameplay mechanics, dumb AI, and a forgettable storyline, it brings nothing new in terms of enjoyment. Gorgeous visuals and a great multiplayer simply could not save Call of Duty 3 from being just a different battle in the same tired war.

I haven't played the 360 or normal xbox version of COD 3 but as far as what I can tell from the PS2 version this series has moved on. The action can be pretty intense at time but the there really isn't much strategy and you can basically run and gun throughout the game without much trouble. The story is basic stuff but I thought the American portion was easily the best part. As a whole the game isn't terrible but it feels terribly mediocore in so many ways compared to other iterations. The graphics are a mess and while the framerate stays pretty steady the textures are blurry and repetive and the character models repeated over and over. The battles themselves just don't feel very large scale and the level design is pretty simplistic. The game can be fun for a little while but it just gets old and you realize you've done this all before and if you've played the 360 version well playing this game is very difficult. So maybe this game is worth a rental but it's just more of the same. Expand

One word, "disappointing" the battle action is great, but everything else is a letdown. what I liked about COD 2 was going through war with one outfit (The Big Red 1) in COD 3 You bounce around between an American unit, a Polish, a Canadian, and British. I never got that feeling of comradery half the time I wasn;t shure what My name was. in My opinion They should have picked a unit like the big red 1, 86nd, or 101st airborne so You get to know the men You're fighting beside. I also would love to see a series of Marine Corps battles in the Pacific theater...Semper Fi. Expand
