Best game in The Clock tower series and the best survival horror game in history along with Haunting Ground. Soo deserving of a re-release. I Still play it yearly. Definitely not too short as critics claim. The earlier games were shortest of all, boring, and not 3D with only 1-2 different stalkers. Clock tower 3 is new and bery improved compared to the earlier games
I must say the game's emotional impact is undeniable, and it kept me filled with terror every time I turned on my PS2... Oh, and something else. This game has the most appallingly violent cutscenes you will ever see.
Too short, its puzzles are laughably easy, it's too expensive for the limited replay value it offers and it doesn't break any new ground for the survival horror genre.
Another problem with the gameplay is the surprising simplicity of it. Sure, there are puzzles to solve, but they rarely require any sort of deep thinking.
With a captivating story, gameplay, and well thought out races/enemies, Clock Tower 3 offer what I would call a hard to put down game, in my experience this game gave me much enjoyment and scares that most horror games offer little, their are good horror games but this one took the cake.
It's hard to believe that this game was the precursor to Haunting Ground. Story filled with cliche, bland characters, repetitive game-play, extremely short (I spent 7 hours) and zero replay value. Since your pursuers are always spawned in the same place every time, following a strict script, their presences offer no suspense, fear or even jump-scares at all during the game, just sheer annoyance. To be fair, the animations and cutscenes are very smooth and stand out for a early 2000s game, but everything else was pretty much forgettable. Technically OK, with loading times to move between areas being very brief, almost unnoticeable, though it's slow to open the inventory. It's heartbreaking for me to bad talk about a game, since it's the sort of entertainment I enjoy the most, and I respect the developers' hard work, but they should have sought a format other than videogame to present it, be it anime, movie etc. The "horror" of survival horror, its genre, stands for how horrible Clock Tower 3 is as a game.
This has the same **** play mechanic as Haunting Ground. As its years later, you can tell this type never took off for Capcom. Your character is not powerful enough to dish it back out on the bad guys. You get victimized when a ghost or monster is on the screen. Even Silent Hill gave you something to fight with. The environments and character models are really cool. The music and ambiance is cheesier though. I would not recommend this game. They could have made this fun to play but didn't.
An absolute bonkers game with some surprisingly effective sequences and chase segments. Unfortunately this game drags hard in the back half. The game gets quite repetitive and there's very little to it beyond some fairly basic elements. Still with how absolutely unhinged this game is it's quite fun to play ironically.
