  • Summary: There is nothing so cold as death. You are Andrew Sterling, a disavowed agent caught in the cat-and-mouse manipulations of a shadow intelligence agency. To facilitate its mission this agency now pervades all aspects of politics, national security, and the highest echelons of human society. You must fight through a complex web of intrigue, double cross, and sinister global interest. Cold Winter brings an intensive FPS experience to the PlayStation2 based in the clandestine world of spies and counter-spies, unique in its emphasis on gritty realism and attention to story detail including detailed weaponry and true-to-life spy gadgetry and realistic human combat interaction with visual representation of body damage in detail. 1. The option to use realistic damage will reward all that time spent in the single-player game nailing head shots too. Those of you with a Multitap will have great fun here. [PSW]
  2. While visually lacking, this shortcoming never manages to detract from the game's single or mutiplayer offerings. Cold Winter is an altogether solid package.
  3. The controls are a bit sluggish when it comes to targeting and the game’s load times are typical. The game is also a bit linear and the puzzles are not particularly detailed.
  4. The game’s a breeze, which might appeal to novice gamers and people for whom achievement is more highly-valued than challenge, but doesn't do it for those better-versed in the art of fragging.

This game is one of the best FPS on PS2! It's physics engine is superb and because I didn't take the story line or game seriously in anyway, it's awesome fun. Expand
  3. Cold winter is a fine first person shooter. The way that you can find items dotted around the levels and then combining them to make objects like lock picks and time bombs is interesting. Great CGI cut scenes that move the story along and the fact that enemies can have their arms and legs blown off, leaving nothing but a lifeless torso is nothing short of awesome. Intel pieces dotted around the level add replay value. Great weapons, game play and sound design make Cold Winter an underrated gem. Expand
