Though in general a direct Dynasty Warriors clone, Devil Kings does try to take this familiar play style and make it something different, though it sacrifices the things that made Dynasty Warriors so popular amongst PlayStation 2 owners.
Congratulations to Capcom for creating something fun and exciting. The bottom line is that this game is worthy of your attention.
Just mindless combat that amounts to little more pressing the attack buttons over and over from beginning to end.
Devil Kings isn’t a bad game it’s just a game that doesn’t offer anything new and exciting that we have played before in another game.
Players really have the feeling of being in the midst of a huge conflict. But the lack of multiplayer options is baffling and the difficulty can quickly lurch between effortless and frustratingly tough.
A variety of playable characters, extra moves, and a Risk-style campaign map do little to hide the fact that there's little more on offer here than an endless swarm of identi-soldiers to hammer. [Mar 2006, p.95]
