  • Summary: Dante is back! Prepare for the next, stylish chapter of Capcom's ultimate action thriller, Devil May Cry. Dante, the mysterious half-man, half-demon action hero is back to battle the legions of the underworld. Sporting trash-taling attitude and rock star good looks, Dante launches into a new adventure with twice the environments, twice the graphic sizzle and twice the gameplay of the original. 1. Lucia's tale alone, a cruel sonnet of self realization wrapped in a story steeped in religious overtones, is reason enough to buy this game. [Mar 2003, p.40]
  2. While the game looks great, from the meticulous gothic locations to the finely detailed demons you encounter, the game play itself was only mediocre.
  3. The lame-o difficulty (the first game was probably too hard, but come on, I've played tougher "Rugrats" games) means that you'll blow through it in a night. [Mar 2003, p.114]
  4. The most monumental loss is style.

The game play is one of the moset intresting and difficult to master but I'd have to say I'll play it for a long time yet.

Yes the storyline is kinda disappointing but the action and controls are a lot better than the first. The bloddy palace is cool because instead of after beating it you get that and you want to continue playin cause i personaly dont like playin the story mode over and over. And the devil trigger was so much better. The thing that really bugs me is that you have no clue what the hell happened to trish and how he ended up in vie de maril. Expand

It's kind of like a spin-off of a great movie, good, but the director (or in this case, developer) forgot everything that made the original a classic. Expand

In sharp contrast to Devil May Cry, the sequel dumbs down the difficulty an extreme amount. It caters to everyone who whined that the first was too hard, the game play it watered down, it ruins Dante's lovable cocky, confident, and competent personality, and the characters and storyline are absolutely unengaging.
