The only thing we can say in this game’s defense is that it’s not necessarily broken. As annoying as it may be, the game is still technically playable, and you can still understand the plot if you want to.
  2. Digimon World: Data Squad is a crushingly repetitive and generally joyless role-playing game.
  3. Data Squad has too much text for a five-year-old to enjoy it, too many annoyances for a 10-year-old to be amused. And the storyline is lacking.
  4. Unless you're the biggest Digimon fan on the planet, don't even bother to rent this mess.
  5. The slowness of Digimon World Data Squad might help to offset the grindingly boring gameplay, and the pretty colors might cheer you up despite the exceedingly poor production values of … well, everything.
  6. Fans of the series might find it entertaining to rescue kidnapped kids while battling the Seven Demon Kings, but most people will find precious little to enjoy.

The game offers nothing but tedium to older gamers, but the six and under crowd may love it. [Nov 2007, p.90]
  8. The turn-based battles that make up the bulk of the game are tedious and boring, made worse by their constant bombardment upon the player. The story feels completely unimportant, and its telling by the main characters is too cheesy to make anyone care.

I can see no reason why anyone would want to play this game to completion. In its present form, the game is terrible.

I never once thought I would say this about anything Digimon, but stop. Just stop. Bandai is ruining the good name of Digimon. The battle system is ridiculously under thought and the desire to keep playing is nonexistent. Full Review »

A game that suffers from a few flaws, but still provides an ample amount of fun. The battle system is interesting, although the battles A game that suffers from a few flaws, but still provides an ample amount of fun. The battle system is interesting, although the battles themselves seldom provide enough of a challenge to necessitate the crafting of any intricate strategies. Music is enjoyable, graphics are average, and travel on the world map is often disorienting, but the monsters are fun, and that's what counts the most. Full Review »
