  1. This is not a title to sit down and play five minutes worth before you run out for errands. But if you devote some time to learning about horses and the racing itself, Gallop Racer 2006 is surprisingly rewarding.

For fans of horses, racing, stats, or high functioning autistics this title stocks plenty to do. Tack on decent graphics and challenging (but not impossible) learning curve and you've got one satisfying niche title and a surprisingly great and wicked way to get your pony fix.
  3. The new design segments game play dramatically, but the core excitement of horse racing is brought across more than ever in Gallop Racer 2006.
  4. GR06 may be tough, but its thoroughness should be appreciated. [July 2006, p.78]
  5. For long time horse racing fans, Gallop Racer 2006 brings some great improvements in both the racing and breeding aspects above previous versions. [July 2006, p.72]
  6. If you already like the series, not enough has changed to stop you from enjoying it. And that's exactly the reason why new players may as well just stay away. [July 2006, p.106]
  7. Gallop Racer 2006 would be more fun if its presentation weren't so overwhelmingly confusing and its races so surprisingly difficult: it's a nasty combo.

I loved being able to make my own horses and race them. When I say make, I don't mean breed either, I mean you can go into the Free Mode and pick your horses color, sillks, markings, tack, body type, running style, and give make it as good or bad as you want, along with giving the abilities YOU want it to have! I made a horse with all the highest ratings just for fun. The graphics are really good to and you can also edit your own races! It's a great game! Expand

I'm new to GR. After playing BCC I like GR for the most part, but there are a few things I would change. I dont like the fact that you I'm new to GR. After playing BCC I like GR for the most part, but there are a few things I would change. I dont like the fact that you can only race one horse at a time. Once you pick a MyHorse to race you are stuck with it until it wins so many races. I do like the breeding aspect of the game, trying to find the perfect combo. I did figure out to edit a F horse into a "Super Horse" in Simulation mode and then race it in Theme Park mode to win lots of money so I can breed to my hearts content. Expand
