  • Summary: Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories is an entirely new game in the Grand Theft Auto series and brings a mobile dimension to this epic experience. The original storyline and all new missions take place in Liberty City, featuring the interactive, open environment, voice talent and diverse music that have become pioneering trademarks of the series. 1. There's no multiplayer, and other GTA games are bigger or have more famous voice actors and more well-known soundtracks. But $20 for a fairly fresh GTA game on PS2 seems amazingly fair to us.
  2. Basically if you've not played Liberty City Stories and love the series, proceed directly to your store and pick up a copy. [Aug 2006, p.85]
  3. Liberty City Stories has a number of mishaps and annoyances, some of them which are borderline frustration. On the PlayStation Portable this was forgiven because GTA: LCS brought a console-like Grand Theft Auto experience to the handheld. These problems are less excusable on the PS2.
  4. So the game looks a mess; it runs with the clunkiness of hastily-assembled quick-and-dirty port. It's still Liberty City Stories at heart, which means you get to rip around on a crotch rocket, you get to see some buildings before they were built in GTA III (or, blow some others up as the case may be), explore more of Shoreside Vale, and experience the formation of what would later be the world of Grand Theft Auto III from an entirely new perspective.
  5. While the game isn’t as robust as, say, Vice City or San Andreas, there is still plenty to keep one’s self busy, and the $20US price tag certainly doesn’t hurt either.
  6. It really boils down to what you want from your Grand Theft Auto games; fans of San Andreas will likely despise this game for its simplistic style, while others will appreciate this game for what it offers. Don’t buy this game expecting it to be something revolutionary or amazing.

The rest of the Grand Theft Auto series is dirt cheap now, and offers better gameplay in a far more massive world, with vastly superior graphics. So, unless you have absolutely maxed out on all things GTA, it’s unlikely that Liberty City Stories will be anything but a minor curiosity.

THE BEST INTRODUCTION OF SAGA GTA THERE UNTIL NOW!! I think, the GTA LCS much better than GTA III, of course. Mechanisms, graphics, and everything was better. This game is sensationally ADDICTIVE! Expand

I grew up with this genre and this one was good. The story was actually pretty impressive seeing that it was a prequel. It's cool. Not amazing like it's brethern. I'm not gonna go down on Rockstar Expand

OK, so many people say this is worse than San Andreas. Its not. If anything, its better. The only thing that makes SA better is the cheats. Kinda bad story line but WHO CARES? Expand

Tony Cipirani returns as a badass in Liberty City Stories. LCS is the second last installment in the GTA III universe and it takes place 3 years before GTA III and its not as good GTA III. LCS has the same graphics as San Andreas but its not better in my opinion, The gameplay looks the same the story was really cool it really felt like you were a part of the Mafia. The Best thing about the game was Tony Cipirani because we all know him from GTA III but now its all about him so really cool, the worst thing about the game was that it was not released on the PC or XBOX. But overall the game was pretty good. 7/10 Expand

Although probably more fitting as a PSP title, GTA: LCS on the PS2 is still a fun and worthy experience, just not anything too special or memorable...
