  1. Although it may seem that Guitar Hero 5 is just an update of the last year edition, the truth is that the new features, the improvements in the interface and the track list make it the best installment of the series in the last years.
  2. Despite being a bit burned out on the whole music-game craze, Guitar Hero 5's new features and ear-pleasing track list had me strumming and drumming on the plastic instrument peripherals all over again...and having a great time doing it.
  3. Guitar Hero's fifth installment is easily the most accessible.

With no online play, no downloadable content, no GH Tunes or music studio, and a gimped down Party Play and Career mode, there’s no way we could endorse the latest Guitar Hero offering on PS2. The Guitar Hero series may have gotten its start on the PlayStation 2, but the real rock experience moved on long ago.

The Playstation 2 version of Guitar Hero 5 is very very weak. Because of the limited abilities of the PS2 as compared to the 7th Generation systems... Party Play Mode is exactly like Quickplay mode without failing. That is all it is, you cant hop in or out of a song in progress, you have to quit the song, go back to the setup screen, add/drop an instrument, and then you can finally continue. Graphics/Navigation are
not even close to the 7th gen systems, if you are expecting the nice looking highway gems or the cool star power graphic, or the meters on the side of the highway, none of it is there. The setlist menu takes forever to scroll, and they just don't work. Online... don't expect it at all, the PS2 is too old to even consider support for it, and there is certainly no way DLC will work with 8MB memory cards.
Other than that, the gameplay mechanics remain the same, so if you are only looking to play Guitar hero without paying over $100 for a system to play it on, then go for this.

This is a terrible, terrible port. The graphics are horrible. All the modes on here are just the bare basics of the 360 and PS3 versions. Everything takes forever to load. All the songs are unlocked at the beginning, so no challenge at all. The tour mode thing is literally all the songs in difficulty order, with nothing else added. Almost all the features from the 360/PS3 are gone. No online anything. I don't get it. If Rock Band could make a decent port, why couldn't this? Expand

Turd is a case...this is just a normal turd this is a long solid one. This game isn't worth just playing the songs. Rent if you have any patience because of the loading screen and how many they are. This is just a giant piece of **** for ps2 users Expand

The PS2 version of Guitar Hero 5 is absolutely terrible. You have every song unlocked from the start, which is good, but doesn't help the fact that the song list is horrible. Every song are either ok or bad quality of each band. Sweating bullets by Megadeth could have been replaced with Devils island and such. Most of the songs are boring to play, because most of them are just ' play few differnent chords million times and play easy solo '. Every song loads for like 5-10 minutes and when you restart, it loads for like 3-8 minutes. Back then when GH1 was released, that game loaded each song in like few seconds and the song restarted right when you wanted. Finaly when you get to play the song, you will notice, that the game accepts when it wants, that you did hit the note right on time. Playing career only unlocks new clothes for character creator. You can't create your own songs, no hyperspeed, chart isin't enough wide, so it's hard to understand what notes you must play, which makes solo parts annoying. Don't even think about of buying PS2 version of this game. Even better, buy Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock instead!

These are the reasons why I give this game 0.
