    Bottom line, as with all the Hot Shots games (I have had enough golf though, thanks for the change Sony) Hots Shots Tennis is big on fun, end of story. [July 2007, p.63]

    Perhaps not a game for tennis nuts as it's too simplistic to be a realistic representation of the sport but a great fun light-hearted look at the world of tennis and good for some multi-player action.

    I just love how these supposedly "professional" reviewers so casually dismiss the Hot Shots series. Had they given HST more than a passing glance, they'd have found themselves drawn into a tennis game that is superior in every way to every tennis game ever made. Yes, even the outstanding Virtua Tennis on the Dreamcast. HST's learning curve would be considered steep, but it has a very impressive Tutorial mode that makes getting accustomed to its innovative control scheme a breeze. In other words, HST may very well be the last genuine PS2 must-have game.… Expand

    The reviews were mixed from critics everywhere, and its clear to me that I will now play a game before I listen to everybody else. The gameplay is incredible for a tennis game - It's got a bit of a learning curve, but I've been in some very satisfying tennis matches with the game. The characters were quirky and cute, and the courts were decent enough with some memorable background music. The problem with the game lies with content and unlockables. There isn't a very large campaign mode, and it feels like with a little bit more polish, the game could even be better than Mario Tennis on N64. Granted, the PSP version of Hot Shots tennis aims to better itself by introducing rpg elements. But all in all, this PS2 outing has a great personality, and is sure to make you giddy every time you pop the disk into your player.… Expand
