  1. If you're looking for the hottest new RPG with the flashiest graphics and some newfangled game mechanics, you'll probably be a bit disappointed. But if you're into the anime and want something that's guaranteed to have you playing well into the wee hours, this game is going to be smiling and waving at you the next time you're at your favorite game shop.
  2. The trouble is doing any sort of action requires using 3 or 4 menus, which is okay in itself, but in InuYasha: The Secret of the Cursed Mask, each menu takes twice as long as it needs to, dragging the battles horridly. Combined with a fairly high encounter rate, it seems to take forever to accomplish anything.
  3. Players over age ten might find Inuyasha too juvenile to enjoy, but younger players will love the charming storyline. [Jan 2005, p.78]
  4. 7 / 6 / 5 / 6 - 24 [Vol 797; 26 Mar 2004]
  5. The game itself employs a number of horrible, tired RPG conventions and a budget presentation, making it difficult to recommend to even the most fervent of fans.
  6. For those with no time or emotional investment in the series, this role-playing game is slower than milkshake moving up a cocktail straw, blander in appearance than most PSOne titles, and has more grating dialogue than a rerun of "The Facts of Life." [Jan 2005, p.125]
  7. Appropriately enough, InuYasha plays like self-insert fan fiction: It's just as trite and doubly as embarrassing. [Feb 2005, p.85]

It's a really good game. While it's in chibi format, and it seems the battles never end, it really does follow a nice plot. And besides the mystery of where Miroku and Sango are at the beginning, along with subtitles at the bottom of the screen they actually dubbed this game with the English voices. It's all good. Might just get a little annoying with all the battles and how when you want to fight you can't get the black clouds to hit you. Expand

7/10 mostly because of alot of things I've noticed in the game that affected my ability to enjoy it.
First off, the voice acting is so
sub-par, the male lead of the game has terrible voice acting in regular conversations but sounded good in battles, as for the female lead voices in conversations sounded better but in battle, it sounds tooo wimpy.

Secondly, the gameplay is way to slow, the battles are slow as hell, by the time I get in to a battle, its already been 10 mins.

But enough with way it was wrong, now on to way it was good enough to be a 7.
The story was interesting, despite battles being slow it was fun, the friendship/relationship events that happen are always a joy:), I enjoyed the high replay value as the number of different events happen to the lead.

Overall I liked it and it would be a great collection to your PS2.

What is wrong with everyone? You're all giving 9's to this crud? What's wrong with you? I know you're entitled to your opinion but geez... Now I'm no InuYasha hater I love InuYasha, I love all of Rumiko Takashi's manga/anime. Yet I can't like this game no matter how much I try. At first you MIGHT think it's okay but rather quickly you really start to hate it. At least the American voice actors are voicing it. Yet the acting is really bad, and the sound is pretty crummy. Now the Nintendo 64 graphics that's jyst horrid, with drawn non-interactive backgrounds and blocky character models it'll make you cry. The battles are boring and you can win by attacking over and over there is no strategy maybe a little cure spells once or twice but it's never really exciting. The story is horrid as well it's not entertaining at all. The only two things keeping this away from a zero is the exclusive anime footage and the previously mentioned american voice actors from the american anime even though the acting is done horribly. Not even the biggest fans like me will hate it. Don't buy it. It's for your own good... Expand
