Step into the boots of a World War II soldier and survive Pearl Harbor. The epic saga of World War II continues with Medal of Honor Rising Sun. The war has shifted to the Pacific Theatre, and its outcome depends on you. Play as Marine Corporal Joseph Griffin in a far-reaching tale of two brothers that weaves its storyline from this title into the next game in the award-winning MOH franchise. As Japanese forces seek to expand their dominion over the Pacific, you must use stealth, commando tactics, and sabotage to turn the tide in your favor. Featuring real-life historical battles like Pearl Harbor and Guadalcanal, over 20 authentic WWII weapons, highly intelligent enemies, and a heroic cast of characters that fight on your side from level to level, Medal of Honor Rising Sun delivers the standard-setting experience for all action games. GameNow
A masterpiece, plain and simple. From the opening Pearl Harbor sequence, to the rain-soaked midnight raids, to the machine-gun-mounted elephant rides, Rising Sun oozes with jaw-dropping quality at every single turn.

Play Magazine
Engaged me more heavily than any FPS I've played this year. [Dec 2003, p.54]

Games Radar
The single-player campaign doesn't cover much new ground but the multiplayer takes no prisoners. [GamesMaster]

Official U.S. Playstation Magazine
It's not a bad game, but then again, it's not the be-all and end-all Pacific-theater FPS we expected. The primary emphasis on gloss and glamour over gameplay and challenge suggests that Rising Sun is geared more toward the tyro rather than the savant.

Game Over Online
Rising Sun begins in Pearl Harbor with a bang, but drags on to finish with a whimper.

GamePro
True-blue Medal of Honor fans will still enjoy Rising Sun’s cinematic style, respectful and historically accurate atmosphere, and heavily arcade feel. But for many, the game will feel too familiar in a fast-food way, lacking that old Medal of Honor magic.

games(TM)
We were disappointed when "Frontline" failed to take advantage of its World War II settings, but it's galling to see that EA still hasn't got it right with Rising Sun. If there's ever a case against World War III, then surely this is it. [Christmas 2003, p.100]

This game was f...ing incredible. Finally the Marine Corps gets their moment in gaming history. I have just finished it and i am still feeling the excitement. The fact that you can play with other soldiers makes the game that much better than Frontline, plus the fact that your interaction and dialouge with the other characters in the game. I cannot wait till the next MOH. Definitely a must buy for all lovers of first person war shooters Semper Fi! Expand

This game had a lot to live up to being another MOH game...was disapointing, but not bad, a wee bit short and a lack of change background, mainly jungle... great to see they now have multi player (online). in its own right this is a pretty good game. Expand

medal of honor goes abroad to the pacific theater! but a few things were left behind, medal of honor rising sun was released in 2003 for tthe ps2, xbox and gamecube systems, it was the first medal of honor game set in the pacific theater of world war 2, so where do i start? this is the black sheep of the medal of honor franchise, essentially, i have 2 versions of this game, the xbox version, and the ps2 version, while the ps2 version plays well without incident, the xbox version is packed full of bugs, mainly level areas that dont spawn, i would not reccomend the xbox version at all, but as for the game, the level design is fairly good, but some levels feel cramped and grainy, like the Guadalcanal level, the graphics are a plus, they are fairly good looking, but the one thing that lets this game down is the ai, the enemies stand out in the open and just let you shoot them, i dont know if this is for historical realism, because japanese soldiers were not afraid to die, but i have no clue, your teammates have the same problem, but they will occasionally get stuck on the scenery, also the control is nowhere near as good as medal of honor frontline, it feels slugish and stiff, and aiming accurately is an absolute chore, but one bonus over frontline, is that there is a checkpoint system, in the form of save systems spread about the levels, overall, its not a bad game, the concept could have worked, but it was just rushed out the door too quick, and all the different ports have so many things wrong with them, i wouldnt reccomend this game to anyone with a 6th gen console, its not a bad game, but, you wont get your moneys worth :( Expand
