  1. The game shines graphically. Capcom uses a clever mix of 3D textures and cel shading. The backgrounds are full of vivid colors, the explosions are clear and there are even some neat shadowing effects.

Mega Man's bread and butter has always been the run-n-gun, and X7 continues that tradition admirably. [Nov 2003, p.84]
  3. 67
We can only recommend the game to those with an undying patience or a passion for the series. Otherwise, there are plenty of other actioners out there that will provide far more fun than this.
  4. 60
A huge amount of slowdown, even when there’s little going on, detracts from the overall simple shooting-n-slashing frenzy. A sloppy targeting system and the inability to strafe make the controls more of a pain than painless.
  5. Play Magazine
    58
Though the basic Mega Man tenets remain intact - play through level, kill boss, gain new ability - compared to modern games, many of the 3D levels and the accompanying gameplay feel like a freshman effort. [Oct 2003, p.68]
  6. 50
If the stylish 3D graphics had been paired with a resolutely 2D game, with further time spent on level design, the end result could have been much greater than the uninspiring package present here. [Japan Import]
  7. Absolutely unacceptable. MMX7 not only fails to be fun, but barely works right.

Updated with Cel shaded graphics, colorful and beautiful is marvelous. The gameplay is the same, simply the old gamma that we have seen in the bomber, in negative views, it's tiresome , i don't know what its the problem in here but it isn't the Mega Man that had the big charm when it came out in 90's . Still, is best setting off with a decent but fun Mega Man. Expand

I was looking foward to X7. When I first played it, I like it for a while...but now it got stale and boring. The graphics and the soundtrack I was looking foward to X7. When I first played it, I like it for a while...but now it got stale and boring. The graphics and the soundtrack are great but the voicing and the levels are horrible however. In my opinion, the characters are sometimes slow. Sorry but I think X7 is the worst Mega Man game ever, infact it's the only Mega Man game I don't like. Atleast CAPCOM learned their lesson. (Which is why X8 became good) Expand

There is nothing to like about this game, other than a very select few tracks and Red's concept (note I did not say execution). This is the only ugly blip on X's radar. Glad 8 came along and wiped this away, leaving us even with good feelings of Axl. Expand
