  1. It's both fun and completely ridiculous at times. It's fun because you can move the ball and score big, but as time goes on, even on the Hall of Fame level with the IQ and CPU sliders maxed out it is still too easy to move the ball.
  2. In a turnaround seldom seen in the videogame industry, this series manage to go from god-awful to mediocre.
  3. GameDay 2002 finally got the ball, but it's late in the fourth and the other teams (Madden and NFL 2K2) are already celebrating.
  4. [It] isn't without its flaws, and ultimately, it falls short of more robust competing products, but it is also a much-improved game with solid graphics and presentation.
  5. This game just does not cut it for the PS2, hopefully this year's edition will be a building block for the developers to come up with a solid football game.

The series is definitely on the right track. Nevertheless, it has a long way to go before it can even begin to compete with the likes of EA Sports' Madden and Visual Concepts' 2Kx series.
  7. The basis of what is to be an awesome football game has been laid out...It needs better AI, better tackling animations and more via presentation to realistically challenge Madden.
  8. Progress is so slow in coming with this franchise it makes the Lions’ march to mediocrity look like a worst-to-first finish. [Feb 2002, p.84]

A pretty bad nfl game but MUCH could be improved on. Starting with the whole game itself.

Doesn't stand a chance to competition.
