Addictively fun as a multiplayer game, and tricked-out with enough new modes and Franchise options to make the single-player experience enjoyable, Hitz Pro delivers on its promise.
  2. An excellent blend of the two styles of play and has enough options, on either side, to appeal to hockey fans of any sensibility. Above all else, the game is just a lot of fun.
  3. Game Informer
The gameplay is much deeper and forces gamers to concoct more complex offensive strategies. In a way, though, the game has lost part of its charm. [Oct 2003, p.83]
  4. The five-on-five treatment really works for this game but its’ the arcade-styled fast-as-lightning gameplay that will have gamers playing this one for a long time.
  5. Cheat Code Central
Midway might have the best game out there if you base the game on fun and action alone. The game still has that feel right out of the movie "Slap Shot" with the mix of the more realistic hockey of the other guys.
  6. 75
The new simulation aspects are a good attempt to make this year's game appeal to every type of hockey fan, but the game still feels like it's caught in transition.
  7. While its simulation dreams don’t match competing games, it offers enough of a varied experience to be considered a good, solid combo of the two sports game styles.
  8. 80
The feel of parody is gone; rather than being a wild action game based on hockey, this year’s edition is a hockey game with some wild action.
  9. Provides an enjoyable hockey experience that’s easy to pick up and play, graphically sound and aurally interesting just like before. However, this experiment with more realism injected into the series lacks a certain amount of zip that diehard fans have come to know and love.
  10. Play Magazine
I truly love this game. It has everything a hockey fan could want. From the improved animations to the great Franchise mode to the great Pick Up and Play mode, NHL Hitz Pro is a necessary purchase. [Oct 2003, p.84]
  11. Electronic Gaming Monthly
Most hockey games serve up similarly snazzy visuals, tight control, and expansive options, but none of 'em focus on purely wild-and-fun gameplay like this. [Oct 2003, p.136]
  12. An awesome game that reminds me more of an updated version of a classic than something new, but that’s exactly what I was waiting for.
  13. There's no doubt that Hitz Pro is the best hockey game of this year, though a lack of online play in the UK and no option to play classic Hitz gameplay will disappoint fans.
  14. Official U.S. Playstation Magazine
Even with the realism injection, it hasn't gotten too far away from its roots...A bit more over-the-top hitting and much more funny commentary would do wonders for the series.[Oct 2003, p.121]
  15. PSM Magazine
It's great for non-hockey fans, and a good break from your "ESPN" or "NHL 2004" season. [Nov 2003, p.43]
  16. Finds the right balance between arcade and simulation gameplay while still delivering the classic Midway style of hockey and adding more depth to the gameplay.
  17. GameNow
One thing I'm wishing for more of in Hitz is crazier hitting, fighting, and commentary. [Oct 2003, p.62]

This game is awesome except for the style of fighting. They should go back to the 2002 style.
