Nicktoons: Attack of The Toybots is by no means a stellar game, but if you're a parent looking to entertain your kid for a few hours while you go out, then this might do the trick.
Another installment! You know what that means... once again it isn't working. Call this the last good Nicktoons installment because the next one might be as bad as you wanted it to be.
At the end of the day, this latest Nicktoons game on the PS2 and Wii is good enough for its target audience and gets high marks for bringing these characters to life with decent voice acting, a fun story and some colorful worlds.
This game is pretty much the exact same thing as the previous entry in the franchise, Battle for Volcano Island. The graphics, gameplay, and mostly everything else is the same. The only difference is that the story is the best in the franchise at the moment, there are more characters now, and they added new levels that are based around aiming the remote to shoot the enemies. I guess it is technically the best game of the bunch, but there isn't much of a difference here.
It's... OK I guess. I like the puzzles and battling involved but the levels are too linear aside from said basic puzzles.
Also, who coded the gravity settings? The gravity is turned up to 350% in this game and the player cannot jump very high at all.
Now I like Nicktoons. Danny Phantom, Jimmy Neutron, Fairly Odd Parents, Spongebob, Invader Zim, and Mr. Meaty were all pretty good cartoons in their early seasons. But the Nicktoons games were, well, not that good, at all. So I am going to review the "best" game in the Nicktoons series. That is Attack of The Toybots. Now the story starts with Spongebob and Patrick going to a factory filled with toybots. They bring lots of Kraby Patties, and then their stolen and Patrick goes with the Patties. So Spongebob goes and saves Patrick and they get lost and need to find a way out. Then, throughout the game, you rescue different nicktoons characters. The game's story, while being very flawed, does have a good joke here or there. So the writing and story is not that good. The gameplay is actually okay though, but the variety is at the level of 0. The controls are too loose and because the game is so challenging, it made the game nearly unplayable at times. The game has a few camera issue's here and there, but doesn't make then game unplayable. The A.I is also too smart. There is a difference between being smart, and being too smart. Because the game is for kids, adults might have more fun with the game, but not the most fun. While the combat is okay at times, the platforming is MUCH BETTER. Even though it is challenging, there are moments where the platforming can get to be something pretty fun. But even though it can have big spikes of fun, each character is the same. In fact, the only things different about them, are their names and attack looks. Each attack does the same amount of damage and even though it is fun to watch jimmy neutron and timmy turner fight robots, it's not fun to play it. The sound doesn't fare much better, because the songs are not good at all, and the voice acting is okay, but they don't sound like their cartoon counterparts. Literally nothing about the sound is good. The graphics, OMG, their BAD!!! I mean, BAD! The environments are ugly, the lighting is even uglier, and the character models and lip syncing are EVEN UGLIER! Why is this game so UGLY. THIS is the best nicktoons game that came out of the series. Right now it is OVERRATED! Don't play this game! Just because it says Nictoons, doesn't mean it's good. 3/10
SummaryThe evil Professor Calamitous is at it again! But this time he’s gone too far. He has created evil robots that look just like our Nicktoons heroes!
