These are wonderful, terrible songs, all, and the SingStar team has selected a great cross-section of music.

It's difficult to find a better party game for the PlayStation.
  3. Yet another solid entry in a series that has been helping people embarrass themselves completely for quite some time now.
  4. If you like the song list and you like Singstar titles there is no reason why you should not pick up this game.
  5. Feels like a hastily put together stop gap before the series goes PS3.
  6. SingStar 90’s is a fair investment if you have all the others games and the microphones (standalone version is sold around 30$).
  7. Like it's predecessor SingStar '80s, SingStar '90's track list is just too wide-ranging to keep you from burning out on the small handful of songs that you'll enjoy singing.

A decent selection of '90s songs - some good, some cheesy and some terrible. [Oct 2007, p.83]

The U.S. version, on the other hand, features too many one-hit wonders that could have been easily eliminated without anybody mourning them: how many times do you want to sing Chumbawumba's "Tubthumping" or Spin Doctors' "Two Princes"? The novelty is gone after the first time.
  10. Even Guitar Hero III, which publisher Activision is milking like a heifer that squirts fine vintage wine instead of calcium-rich cow juice, boasts more than 40 tracks. There should be more here, period.
  11. Much like its 80s predecessor, this compilation feels like it does not capture what made the 90s so dynamic a time in music.
  12. Singstar '90s plays the same as the others before it, but it will come down to the track list preference whether or not you'll want to spend the money on it.
  13. There really is no excuse for the workmanlike presentation though – if Sony are going to keep releasing these games, they should at least put something new in them.
  14. Playstation Official Magazine UK
    70
No changes to the basic formula. [Oct 2007, p.101]
  15. Playstation: The Official Magazine (US)

If you have no friends, the game's visual pitch display may help improve your singing, but your social life will still be flat. [May 2008, p.73]
  16. PSM3 Magazine UK
    70
As cheery as it's possible to be mumbling to a Radiohead song. [Oct 2007, p.84]
  17. That's where Singstar '90s comes in. It's a party game that aims for recognition over indie cred.
  18. In some alternate reality where the Guitar Hero developers had been hit by a bus before making their game, this title might have a chance as a party game; as it stands, it doesn't even rank second place.
