Splashdown's famously beautiful water has evolved as well: bigger waves, swift currents, and treacherous downhill rivers. There are also plenty of tricky, technical indoor stadium courses, plus a freestyle stunt mode, an all-new technical time trials mode for hardcore racers, and more. [THQ] Expand

There's also a ton more to this game than the original. More tracks, more modes, more riders, more everything. [Sept 2003, p.101]
  2. The gameplay is intuitive and accessible to gamers of all ages and skill levels and the interactive environments and charming level design will delight and fascinate all who play and even those who watch somebody else play.

The developer's most accessible and friendliest game to date, and it works. So, simply put, if you want a technically crafted watercraft racer based on a sophisticated trick system, get it.
  4. It's a testament to the prowess, technical execution and sheer addictiveness of its premise (race through ever-changing courses/tracks made to resemble theme park attractions) that Rides Gone Wild remains the heir apparent to "Waverace 64's" crown as the best water-based racing game ever made.

Add variable weather and a sea of upgrades and these are the depths you need to plumb, right now. [Oct 2003, p.72]

I've never seen a game with such intolerable loading times. [Oct 2003, p.142]

A decent game for players new to the genre, but there is little to be found behind its shiny façade. [Oct 2003, p.38]

The course themes, while generic, are exciting and fun. But, the load times are ridiculous. You'll spend just under 30 seconds starring at the loading screen every time you play. That's just unacceptable and seriously drags down on the fun. They could have at least halved that time by making the disc dvd format, but instead they were cheap. I'd give it an 8/10 if the loading wasn't bad. Expand
