  • Summary: Remember when snowboard sims used to suck? The times have truly changed with the monster speed, detailed tracks and super-fast frame rates of EA's first extreme sports game for the PS2.

  1. In short, this game looks, sounds, and plays like a dream.
  2. 100
PS2 people, you have your first must-own title. With gameplay that takes the best bits of all the games which have come before it, SSX practically redefines snowboarding excitement.
  3. There is an unimaginable amount of depth underneath its flashy exterior.
  4. The music soundtrack is dead on, with fast and funky tunes delivering the adrenaline rush you so badly need to make you feel like a badass.
  5. Every course and environment in SSX is stunning.
  6. An excellent techno break beat soundtrack featuring the likes of Mix Master Mike and Rahzel puts the ice on a very tasty snow cake. The only thing that really lets this game down is a lack of game modes.
  7. The gameplay isn’t perhaps as tight as Nintendo’s ageing "1080º Snowboarding," but it’s an original take on the sport and deserves all the praise it has received.

This game has long entertained me for hours long after the original "Phat" PS2 I got it with has long died. A pinnacle game in my childhood... I can't say anything more about how great this game is. Expand

Amazing game, if you still own a PS2 and want a cheap fun ride, pick this one up! You will love snowboarding and make you wish you lived in a place that had snow and mountains! Expand

Its great fun, not as realistic as "ESPN Winter X" but a great game nonetheless.

I never thought in a million years that my most played PS2 title would be a snowboarding game, but to my surprise it pretty much was. SSX was truly a good game, the unrealistic aspect of it made the experience even more fun and to this day this is one of the better PS2 titles. The best part of the game was learning and performing new tricks, tied in with some sweet maps. Even though I didn't own any of the predecessors, I've seen Tricky and SSX 3 and they are both worthy of the name and add some meaningful content. Expand

Unrealistic, fast-paced action. I guess that's what people want. And it just so happens that i want the same thing. SSX is filled with nice courses, various modes, and it has a high replay value making it a game worth remembering. Expand
