  • Summary: An intense, edgy, high-energy space-combat action game set in the dark mirror universe of Star Trek: The Original Series classic-era setting, Star Trek Shattered Universe challenges the player to adapt to a new reality where everything once familiar is now a dark reflection - where the noble Federation is now an evil and relentless foe. 1. Looks good and is easy to play, but may not have enough substance to please the more advanced gamer.

Shattered Universe takes that one episode and turns it into an entire game with minor references to a few other Star Trek episodes.
  3. This concept itself obviously isn't a terribly original one, and Shattered Universe's gameplay mechanics are equally pedestrian in design, hopelessly trying to mirror bigger, better space combat games.
  4. In short, Shattered Universe just doesn't deliver. The onscreen action never heats up enough to be considered exciting, and even if it did, the shoddy control scheme would keep it from being any fun anyway. [Dec 2003, p.176]

It is VERY challenging compared to other games of it's genre. The ship is hard to contol, (I found myself rolling right instead of accelerating on more than one occasion) and opposing vessels are pretty hard to destroy, not to mention CATCH. If you want a brake from easy-kill air/space shooter like Ace Cobat 4 or Crimson Skies, this game is a must. And it DOESN'T require you to be a Trekkie. (I am, though :) But it does help you understand the plot a bit. Expand

its ok. It's not very hard to learn, and its passes the time away. It actually has a few moments when you really enjoy it.If your looking for a sci-fi game that you can figure out easily, then this is your game. Expand
