  • Summary: Set in richly detailed 3D environments, each with its own distinct styles and themes, Rau, a fierce warrior, must battle the denizens of the dark world to prevent the invoking of an ancient spell that holds the power to unleash great evil throughout the land. Along with his loyal and trusted spirit guide, Kuzo, a large black bird, Rau embarks on an exhilarating journey that requires a combination of stealth, aggressive-action moves and calculated planning. Kuzo plays a strategic role in the quest with the ability to scout ahead to perches for a better view of looming danger, retrieve items and distract opponents. [SCEA] Expand

  1. It's the most surprising, and visionary, action-adventure game of the summer. [Fall 2002, p.145]
  2. A visceral celebration of action and all that is good about hacking the bejesus out of someone - in style. [August 2002, p.76]
  3. 88
It's the best beat-'em-up on the system.
  4. Has the story and substance to attract the hardcore and masses alike, and the gameplay to appease both - the mark of a truly great game. [July 2002, p.81]
  5. Dedicating all your time, you can finish the game in about fifteen hours, which includes the completion of all Baumusu’s challenges, unlocking of arenas, and other rewards. This seriously decreases the replay factor.
  6. What could have been an action-packed, combat-intensive game gets muddled down by mechanics that make it frustrating more often than satisfying.
  7. I feel greatly disappointed by the lack of polish that could have made it a killer title. [August 2002, p.108]

From the little i saw of the game it was awesome. I am very disappointed though, it is rated "M". That is sooooooo stupid. The little violence there is is little specks of blood on the ground, and on his swords. Granted, some of the moves seem like they are gory, like stikin' the sword through the guy on the ground, or impaling a guy to a wall, etc. But I've seen worse. And it is a great game. I'd recomend it to all action/adventure gamers! Go check out the movies to it at Gamespot. Expand

The engrossing storyline, smooth animation, adrenaline pumped battles and kick-ass combat system makes this game awesome.

I really hope they come out with a 'mark of kri 2' but with a different character in a different time. like maybe an escaped gladiator from the roman times as the main character instead. i havent beat this game yet but so far it is very good. Expand

With all the great reviews, and all the hype this game and the sequel is getting, i really don't see what is so great about it. In my opinion, this is a mediocre adventure game at its best, and should be treated like one. Expand
