  • Summary: No levels. No load times. Just never-ending action that doesn't stop until you leave the game. Tony Hawk's American Wasteland gives you - for the first time ever in a Hawk game - the freedom to skate, or bike, throughout a rich, expansive open environment. Once you arrive in Los Angeles, the vast city that gave birth to skate culture, the sky's the limit as you progress through the Wasteland story and choose missions that will have you immersed in the action without ever skating the same line twice. New on the board tricks include the Bert slides, Natas spins handstands, and one-footed grinds and manuals. New off the board tricks include wall runs, wall flips, and charged jumps. Choose Board Or Bike: For the first time, you can choose to ride BMX bikes throughout the entire game, with all-new physics, a BMX specific control system and several BMX-specific goals. Customize Like Crazy: Enter and explore dozens of shops in game to customize your gear and your look! Check out skate shops, barbershops, tattoo parlors, and clothing stores as you accomplish goals and earn cash. [Activision] Expand

  1. It's the best Tony Hawk game yet, and as someone who's played them all to death, that's no passing comment. Better level design, better presentation and better overall polish, this is THE game to buy if you're a Tony Hawk fan.

As a whole, the story, attitude and overall focus of the game is much better this time around than what we've seen from the two "THUG" games.
  3. 74
Perhaps it's time that developers Neversoft go away for longer than twelve months and come back with something other than a glorified extension of a series that seems to be short on innovation.
  4. All told, it's big loss if you decided to give Tony Hawk a rest for a year. [Jan 2006, p.91]

i dont know why anyone can dislike this game, i honestly think that its the best ps2 game ever (and better than any game on another platform, for that matter), the BMX part played a v?tal part, as d?d the completley load?ng screen-free game world, and the soundtrack (? have fallen ?n love w?th astro zomb?es (my chem romance(covered from the m?sf?ts)) and ever fallen ?n love (thursday(covered from buzzcocks))) Expand
  2. Actually my favorite game in the Tony Hawk series, this game is unique and addictive. It has the best Create-A-Park mode yet, as well as lots of places to skate. Yet again, Neversoft pulls off a masterpiece that is an instant recommendation. What else can I say? Expand
  3. Free roam is an interesting and fun part of this game. Another Tony Hawk game that I spent money on and finished overnight. A reason to lose sleep when you're in elementary school Expand

This game has great gameplay but seriously users , just because it focuses more on skating than the other two THUG games, doesn't mean it's better. Also, it's not the best tony hawk game ever! The game is way too easy ,even on sick mode and most of the game's missions are all about doing one little trick to get a piece of the skate ranch! Cmon users and some critics it's not that great!
