It proves that you don’t need hyper detailed, synapse-sizzling graphics to deliver a great game when ingenuity and solid mechanics will do.
A surprisingly deep and compelling boxing game, despite its overall minimalist approach to design, sound, and presentation.
What makes the game fun is its ease of control...It's light years above "Ready 2 Rumble" and "Knockout Kings."
A fairly entertaining game. If boxing games are your thing, then you should check it out.
Although the play mechanics are very solid and intuitive, the controls get in the way to the point that it affects the gameplay. With another control scheme, this game would've been recommended a bit higher.
While manga-style characters may not substitute for the real-world boxers in "Knockout Kings," this game does a better job capturing the speed and drama of the sport. [Dec 2001, p.108]
The lackluster gameplay combined with mediocre graphics and poor sound make it a title worth staying far away from.
