  1. AceGamez
This is still the best grappling game that money can buy, but having said that there isn't really a lot of competition.
  2. Another bone of contention is your AI tag-team partner that can be totally oblivious to your situation as you’re getting the hit shicked out of you. It’s times like this you wish you could toggle between them with the push of a button.
  3. The new control scheme makes SvR 2007 much less of a button-masher as much of the grappling is now mapped to the right analog stick, although sometimes a combo button is needed for certain grapple follow-ups.
  4. Electronic Gaming Monthly
But, for as fresh as it seems, it also feels horrendously outdated in terms of story and characters. [Dec. 2006, p.128]
  5. Although the improvements made to this year’s entry will keep me hooked for months, I can’t quite call SDvsR 2007 the perfect wrestling experience. There are still flaws here and there that irk me, like Diva matches that feel far too automated and the difficulty balancing in some of the tougher game modes.
  6. With many modes of play and a variety of many other options, WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 defends its title as the most popular wrestling series on consoles very well.
  7. What SmackDown! vs. RAW 2007 improves isn't necessarily what the series actually needed to improve, but on its own merits, it's still a great wrestling game.

While it's undeniable that the age of the engine is showing (the flaws of the counter-reversal system in comparison to other wrestling titles really shows itself during online multiplayer), it's still a solid game to play.
  9. A whole lot of fun, though, especially with some friends. The current generation of hardware isn’t dead yet; this is a great game to play as you wait for next year’s game on PS3.
  10. Not a must-buy for everyone, but definitely a stocking stuffer for those who love the series and can’t live without the latest in interactive wrestling entertainment.
  11. I can't make out any significant graphical difference between the Xbox 360 version and the Playstation 2 version.
  12. It takes some time to get used to the play style and the controls, so you might want to consider other options before going straight in.

Think of SmackDown 2007 as the Ric Flair of videogames -- a wrestling great with enough titles and fond memories to keep its forward momentum for yet another, but aged to a point where we're questioning how much longer it can go.
  14. All of the changes and new features were all for the better, and any wrestling fan will be happy with this game.
  15. Official Playstation 2 Magazine UK
An influx of enjoyable new characters and stacks of authenticity keep this the finest grapple game on the planet. [Dec 2006, p.72]
  16. Official U.S. Playstation Magazine
For the first time in I can't remember how long, the yearly WWE game is actually fun to play! [Dec. 2006, p.126]

In terms of the graphics, the PS2 version does a very commendable job both in terms of technical ability and presentation.
  18. Pelit (Finland)
One of the best show wrestling games around. The new control system is very nice, but you still can not break throws started by other players. A proper arcade-like blocking system would not hurt, either. [Dec 2006]
  19. You can spend dozens of hours playing through the game’s various modes and match types, and that’s even before you start playing multiplayer.
  20. Play UK
After pressing any button repeatedly for almost a day we can only assume that there has to be a better way to make a wrestling game work. [Issue #147, p.70]
  21. PSM Magazine
Even with these kinks, this is still undoubtedly the best WWE SmackDown game yet, and is well worth playing, even if you played the hell out of last years's game. [Holiday 2006, p.73]
  22. PSM3 Magazine UK
The new controls merely paper over the same old flaws - but, ultimately, it's still compulsive fun. [Christmas 2006, p.84]
  23. You can't fault the amount of matches and modes either - there's a ton of stuff in here including a sixman Money In The Bank mode, which really shows off just how much stuff can happen on screen at once.
  24. 73
Online play is worse than ever before as you can’t even set up matches with friends, and hacking is still prevalent.
  25. The game engine is certainly in need of a makeover, and this might be the last year THQ can offer what is more or less a slight update, but it's a fun game and something that will get more than a few hours play with some mates.
  26. Flaws are plentiful and at times glaring, yet somehow, the game is so shamelessly addictive that once you actually play it, you can't be pulled away.
  27. 90
A lot like "Raw Superstar Umaga": It's an absolute monster, with tons of power while simultaneously possessing impressive agility.
