  • Summary: A unique skateboarding/adventure game that pits you against "Gawoo," mysterious alien creatures. Comes with a "fingerboard" controller, a special analog controller attachment. Unlock different parts of the City ("New San Francisco") using eight wacky characters. [KOEI]

  1. The game is fun, but is ultimately held back by its non-responsive controls.
  2. Electronic Gaming Monthly
Spectacularly bizarre in a good way. [Oct 2001, p.148]
  3. If "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater" is the American sitcom of skateboarding games, with predictable pacing and familiar set pieces, than Yanya is the genre's ridiculous Japanese anime, always ready to mess with your expectations of what the genre should be.
  4. Lacks the necessary energy to keep the game moving, and instead relies on the gimmicky "fingerboard" to set itself apart. But as far as gimmicks go, it's a good one.
  5. Next Generation Magazine
It isn’t bad, just eccentric – perhaps too much for its own good. [Jan 2002, p.82]
  6. With the control totally screwed, graphics, sound, and other bells and whistles don't matter.
  7. 40
Skateboarding fans stay clear of this one, unless you’re in a goofy mood, and you just want to play something entirely silly.

This is a really fun game for one player; the only drawback is that you only get one fingerboard and the second player has to fly blind.

I like the game but I got it used so I don't have a finger board. I still like it but playing it is harder than it should be.
