Abyss Odyssey is a thematically deep game. On the surface it's a simple action platformer crossed with roguelike, but under that surface is a true rarity; a game made by South Americans that rejoices in South American mythology.

Captivating beat'em'up infused with RPG elements and a healthy dose of Chilean mythology. It could use some fine tuning in regards of its control scheme but the game itself is worth revisiting. [Issue#245]

Abyss Odyssey is an evocative gem that begs for more polish and attention; one that is rough around the edges but will hypnotize you with enchantment and mystery.

Abyss Odyssey manages to be an interesting game that will reward those who spend time with it to really get to know it.
  5. A 2-hour repeat-fest isn't an odyssey. Still, an interesting hybrid of genres that succeeds more than it fails. [October 2014, p77]

Between those shooting star moments, too much of Odyssey weakens under the pile. It’s many things at once with new ideas; this is the both the kindest and most damning thing to be said about it.

Some great ideas and fantastic graphics, but as fun as it is to see so many genres mixed together Abyss Odyssey doesn’t do any of them any real justice.
