  • Summary: Nathan Spencer will make use of his trademark tool – his bionic grappling hook – to grab, swing and leap through series of lush new environments. He’ll be met by plenty of gun-toting soldiers and mechanized threats ready to give him a hostile greeting. Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 improves upons upon the visual achievements of its predecessor with the addition of more detailed character models, textures, and vibrant colors. New player mechanics will add another strategic layer of platforming to the overall experience and the famous bionic arm will be getting a major makeover delivering a more dynamic bionic experience to the player. In many respects, it's exactly what I would expect from a follow-up: more of the same with minor enhancements. At the same time, it is just more of the same with some enhancements, but Fatshark seemed to be aiming to make the best damn sequel they could...just without rocking the boat too much.

Fans of the series will still find plenty to like here, but just be aware that this second helping isn't going to taste quite as fresh as the first.

Overall, I didn't like this as much as the first game, but there's still plenty worth checking out when you get around to it. Rearmed 2 isn't a "must-play instantly" game by any means, but it still ranks above Spencer's awful console reboot.

Fat Shark have managed to shoot themselves in the foot by simplifying a formula that worked rather well. Rearmed 2 does enough to remind players as to why the series is often remembered fondly, but quickly blurs the image by stuttering over its best features.

I think this game is really great. I did not play the first game that much, but this I really like. I think it's the controller that is making the difference. Also, it's fun to play co-op. Expand
  2. This is more of the same great action the first game brought ut, plus new features such as death from above and jumping. Great looking game, and basically, if you liked BCR you'll like this. Expand

If you're making a game with old school simplicity and you have to include a Metroid Prime-ish scanner to explain every object in the environment: You have missed the point. If your game is based around using a bionic arm to navigate through obstacles and you feel the need to add a jump button: You have missed the point. If your game requires lightning fast reflexes and split-second timing but your controls are broken: You have missed the point. If you charge people $15 for a game they can't play when their internet connection goes out: You have LOST the CUSTOMER.

If you're looking for your old school fix, wait for Rush'n Attack Ex-Patriot. Maybe that won't be a colossal disappointment.
