• Summary: [Metacritic's 2007 PS3 Game of the Year] As Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare's single player campaign unfolds, the player is introduced to new gameplay at every turn – one moment you are fast-roping from your Black Hawk helicopter after storming into the war zone with an armada of choppers, the next you are a sniper, under concealment, in a Ghillie suit miles behind enemy lines, the next you are engaging hostiles from an AC-130 gunship thousands of feet above the battlefield. Mixed with explosive action, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare also delivers special effects, including use of depth of field, rim-lighting, character self-shadowing, real time post-processing, texture streaming as well as physics-enabled effects. Infinity Ward deployed a dedicated team from the start to deliver a new level of depth to multiplayer. Building on the hit "Call of Duty 2" online experience, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare's new multiplayer provides the community an addictive and accessible experience to gamers of all levels. 1. It's so good that it ruins you for other games. Once you've played it you'll be spoiled, expecting everything to be as stylish, immersive and balls-out brilliant as Modern Warfare. Whether you're creeping through a forest at twilight, slotting unsuspecting militia with silenced weapons or pounding war-torn streets as all hell breaks loose around you, it's an experience that never dips below astonishing. One of the best military shooters to date, with enough realism to make you feel like you're right on the battlefield. The visuals look amazingly life-like, unmatched by other PlayStation 3 efforts. The gameplay feels familiar, and at the same time refreshing and exciting.
  3. The singleplayer campaign or the multiplayer options alone would make this essential. But the two together bode for months of enjoyment. [Dec 2007, p.119]

  1. Pure greatness at it's best but there are still lag and balancing problems and the story gets a bit bare but...no spoilers here great game but the minor flaws keep it form being a 9/10 game on a percent scale i would give it a 98% Expand

Overrated. That's the main word I can think of. Great graphics + decent story line should make for a good game but it's just not very connected. Multi-player is decent but it does not make up for the overall bad quality of the single player game. There is no crouching next to walls to look around the corner and the controls are just a little off. Overall, this game is just average for a first person shooter. I would not reccomend it if you are in to first person shooters. I would reccomend Rainbow Six: Las Vegas (one and two are both great) or Metal Gear Solid 4 (which is probably the best game availible for PS3 unless your one of those frooty b*stards who likes those stupid guitar hero games). what sham what sham they spend 2 years to make this game and they didn’t have clue , do they know people play as group as friends do they know or only they know peopele killing people , what sham for doing the game and you can not invit people …….. the software of this game is very bad made …..the problem is that on PS3 you cannot get into parties without cutting off your system. Also you cant invite friends to play with you easily, and once their in your party, they probably wont make it into the game that you are about to play. (they get kicked). this is extrememly annoying and makes the money spent a little hard to take when you cant play with your friends. Expand
