  1. Wacky additions like a zombie invasion mission add further punch to the reboot. [Mar 2012, p.85]

Even 30 years after the brave pilots headed out for their first rescue mission, Choplifter´s simple, but well thought-out gamedesign still knows how to entertain.

The goofy sense of humor, varied missions, and simple yet evolving gameplay style is a winning combination. It doesn't hold the gripping, satisfying appeal of Super Stardust HD, Pinball FX 2, or Lumines, but Choplifter HD is a great distraction from your usual addictions.

As rewarding as Choplifter HD can be, it demanded a few too many hours of trial and error for me to enjoy the game past the introductory levels, but the more masochistic amongst you will undoubtedly find something to love.

This reboot of an old franchise improves on the basic formula in almost every way. HD graphics ensure nice visuals and accessible, but challenging gameplay keeps you interested the whole time. You won't regret buying this fun little PlayStation Network game.

A great tribute to the original game and the classics shooters. It's not perfect, but your varied missions and simple gameplay make it a very fun game.
  7. The basics of Choplifter haven't changed one bit since its debut in 1982. You still control a helicopter on a 2D plane, rescuing people. Unfortunately you don't always feel in control of the chopper you're flying, which can lead to some unnecessary deaths. [February 2012, p.100]
  8. It does get repetitive after a while, but there's funny dialogue, simple yet effective mechanics, and 'copter unlocks to keep you hooked. [March 2012, p.95]

The concept, gameplay, challenge and atmosphere of Choplifter HD are quite good. It is a nice trip back in the 80's, even if it is far from being a must-have today, as the game is particulary repetitive and its price is quite high.
