At a cost of $10, Ryder White hardly breaks the bank, but there are some really great titles to be found for that same cash. This one is necessary only for serious fans of Dead Island.
Ryder White is a good DLC. It is essential to understand background and mentality of the greatest enemy in Dead Island. If you loved the full game don't miss it.

Dead Island: Ryder White solo campaign was fairly well constructed. Taking you all over the island of Banoi, the campaign offers additional prospective to the player, as you experience the island prior to the outbreak. In terms of game play, it's nothing revolutionary, and I was a little disappointed in the static level, yet still receiving xp for completing challenges, to no benefit. But despite the downsides, it was a solid play, just difficult enough to keep you immersed in the game play, yet not overwhelming. A good grab for players who take an interest in the story presented in the campaign of Dead Island.
Even without any kind of innovation, Ryder White is a fun and thrilling new ride in our beloved and gory Banoi Island. If you loved Dead Island, this new, bloody slice of zombie-pizza will make you scream.
I still count myself as a huge fan of Dead Island, but Ryder White takes too many wrong turns and strays from what made the original game what it was. Completists will surely want to see the twist ending, but more casual fans of the game don't have much reason to take this brutal, frustrating trip.
However, Mr. White's wild ride isn't the only thing included in this package – there are also a few new schematics for making new weapons. These can be accessed in the regular game as well as the DLC. This is a cool feature if you're new to Dead Island or are on a new playthrough, but there's not really enough there to warrant paying for the DLC. Dead Island is still a game that deserves to be played if you missed it last year – but Ryder White can be safely skipped.
Anything that was good about Dead Island has been crudely ripped out, and whatever remains has been served up in such a way that it simply isn't fun, even at the basic "look at me, I'm killing zombies" level.
If you want to take a closer look at dead islands story, just watch the walkthroughs on YouTube. If they patched it so that you wouldn't get swamped by a mob of infected every 15 seconds, the DLC would have definitely been worth it. Instead, you die, you load, you fight overwhelming odds, you die, Over and over and over again. The only reason i didn't give this a 0 is because there is some genuinely good back story and explanations here. But that's the ONLY reason.
just don't buy this, doesn't feature a co-op, it's just not worth it. Seriously, the game was disappointing and this DLC is even worse, it really lacks of everything. Save the money
SummaryThe DLC stars Ryder White as a newly playable character and offers a single player campaign with several hours of story content with twists and turns that will shed new light on the game's happenings. Two blueprints and weapons will further expand the already impressive arsenal of Dead Island.
