Playing the original game alongside the re-release of Dante's Awakening is reason enough for fans and newcomers alike to pick this up without hesitation and even if the reboot fails to recapture the glory of old, this collection shows that it's never been a better time to strap on the leather and slay a few demons.

If you've played these games to death, you should probably go ahead and skip this one. But if you've never spent any time blasting enemies out of the air and cleaving them in twain as Dante, go get this collection now.

A top-shelf effort that spiffs up the series with touched up visuals and plenty of extras. Having all three games together in a collection like this is a golden opportunity for veterans to get reacquainted with Dante. And if you've somehow missed out on Devil May Cry, then this is your chance to finally experience a trilogy that played a large part in paving a new road for action games.

Just before the release of the next DmC, Capcom invites us into a revival trip to play as Dante in the three PS2 episodes which brought the serie to the next level.

Two great games and one that you should probably ignore. [Issue#217, p.74]

A decent assembly of last-generation classics, even if Capcom didn't do quite enough with the package.

A solid collection, great for all DMC fans.

Capcom hasn't touched the gameplay, but they've sharpened the look and left it fully intact without cocking it up (looking at you, Konami!) to bring new and old gamers a taste of top quality action games that still reign supreme today. Well, at least two quality action games that is.

An HD collection that brings back two of Dante's most memorable moments (DMC and DMC3 - DMC2 is not worth mentioning). Young gamers should own it just to see how everything begun and older ones should get it in order to experience the beauty of DMC and DMC3 in HD resolution.

Yes, there are certain areas where the graphics look dated and the lack of camera control can be annoying, but past these complaints you have a collection of games with the frantic gameplay that inspired the likes of God of War & Bayonetta, and it offers a lot of fun.
  11. With so much content at our fingertips, we suspect we'll be making devils cry again for a very long time. [May 2012, p.80]

This collection is a good way to revisit the two best games in the series, though it may be better suited to newcomers than gamers who just want to relive their favorite moments.
  13. Dante's walk is an awkwardness that constantly reminds you these are old games. Nevertheless: the atmosphere, the great voice acting and the cool battles are reason enough to add this collection to your... collection. Well, part 1 and 3, anyways. Just think of part 2 as a bonus. While light on extras, the Devil May Cry HD Collection shows that two-thirds of the original DMC trio are still fun today.

The Devil May Cry HD Collection's best assets are its price and the sheer quantity of content. But as years have gone by, the camera stands out as a sore spot on this iconic action series. The combat, difficulty, and highly-critical rating system make it an exciting piece of gaming history and worth checking out if you missed it the first time around.

It's not the best HD Collection out there, but it shows us why this series is still around after all these years. Devil May Cry 2 is still a major disappointment, but one part 1 and 3 more than make up for it.

The series which influenced the whole action genre grew old but it has good playability and thanks to HD remastering it's still attractive. [May 2012]

Buying this collection can be recommended, but only to people wanting to get to know Dante's origins and experience a still fun slasher legend or to those players, who somehow have missed Devil May Cry's original debut. Regular players be warned: a bit archaic graphics can put you off.

This is a decent collection but it feels like it's been made very quickly. But even though not everything is in high definition, Dante still rocks!

Devil May Cry HD Collection is a compilation of the first three Devil May Cry games from the PlayStation 2. The port includes more additions to the original series that includes trophies and high definition graphics, but the remastering process is not as good as we expected.

The remastering process is not as good as we expected, but those three games are still quite fun and addictive.

At last an HD collection that seems at least somewhat complete, and manages to recapture the magic of what made the original games so influential.

Ravaged by time and a poor HD transfer, these games are not only bastard hard, but they're ugly with it. [June 2012, p.111]
  24. We could have forgiven the ugly presentation of this collection if more was packed in. Given the second game is a dud, two rushed re-releases of DMC and DMC3 make for an expensive trip down memory lane. Where's DMC4? Where's the demo of the upcoming Devil May Cry reboot? Where's the value? [May 2012, p76]
  25. The real problem, however, is that these are not the kind of games that should be remade in hi-def. With titles such as Shadow Of The Colossus or Metal Gear Solid 3, it figures: these are unique experiences that no game since has been able to recreate, outdo or even capture the spirit of. Devil May Cry was lauded at the time, but the games simply aren't classics in that same bracket.

It's kind of hard to advise playing those games today, even though their HD remastering is well-executed. But for gamers who do not mind the visual gap with today's productions, nor the slightly more rigid gameplay of the older games, it's a very nice way to discover the origins of the legendary beat'em all saga.

This HD Collection feels like a wasted opportunity. If you already have the originals for PlayStation 2, there aren't any other reasons to buy this. Still, three games for 39.99 is a reasonable deal.

Its hard to believe ten years have passed since Dante first swaggered onto our screens in the Devil May Cry series and now here is our chance to catch up. Capcom has managed to do a better job this time around compared to the sloppy HD Resident Evil Collection and disappointing issues with the HD Silent Hill Collection we have a HD collection that stands up to its gaming legacy. Sadly the cutscenes remain in original 4;3 aspect but everything else has being brought up with a nice modern lick. DMC and DMC3 are the picks of the litter whereas 2 is the black sheep, but remains playable and a prime example of how to severely take a series in the wrong direction.

Devil May Cry set the standard for action games at the time and remains a solid romp with some tough boss fights, plenty of action and camp action. DMC3 remains in my opinion the best action game available. It contains a wealth of content, introducing styles, a huge variety of environments, great variety in enemies and some fantastic set pieces.

An excellent collection released at a brilliant price and worth is place on anyones shelf beside Bayonetta, God Of War and Ninja Gaiden.

The Devil May Cry games were great back on the PS2. The HD collection manages to recapture the magic, with HD visuals in 16:9 widescreen. DMC2 is not as good as DMC1 or DMC3, but two absolutely fantastic games for 39.99 is a great deal. Full Review »

These games have aged well and with the updated HD graphics there is no reason not to own this collection as Devil May Cry is one of the best series in its genre of all time. You will still receive the amazing fast pace combat, great replay value, top notch puzzles and the same old Dante at a great price. All that said, how can you leave out trophy support which increases the replay value even higher. My advice to you is get it now! Stop reading this get up and go find a copy, it wont be long till you realize why you did!! Full Review »
