  • Summary: Disgaea 4 is a sequel to Disgaea, a hardcore, turn-based, strategy RPG popular on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2. In Disgaea, character units have a limit to their movement and attack ranges, based on level and weapons equipped. There are other special game factors that let you take advantage of the 3D
battle map, many of which are unique to Disgaea. As the 4th installment in the series Disgaea 4 adopts an all new graphic engine with a much more emphasis on a anime style graphics and also adopts many new game system for an exciting battle adventure.

Disgaea 4 is a noteworthy edition to the popular strategy RPG series because it adds so much new content without destroying the familiar gameplay that fans have grown to love.

In the end, Disgaea 4 is simply the finest expression of everything that the Disgaea series is.

Disgaea 4 is still Disgaea, but better, improved and with a very welcomed graphical update. Tons of systems and subsystems focused on creating a crazy sandbox where the rules exist to be broken. Add a really good story, charming characters and the, as usual, excellent soundtrack and you have a fantastic entry into the series.

Fans will love it for everything it is, while detractors will ignore it for all that it isn't. This is a game, and series, that isn't out to win over gamers by changing its stripes -- though its fans probably wouldn't have it any other way.

The funniest and best-looking entry in the series so far, but also the least innovative and accessible in terms of gameplay.

Disgaea 4 has a clear sense of self and it embraces all of its absurdities, presenting them in a surprisingly palatable package, whether you choose just to get your feet wet or dive all the way into the brimming time sink.

The many layers of mechanics are simply too obscure if you haven't played the predecessors to death. Possibly the most complex game in the tactical RPG genre to date, but we just wish the developers had spent as much energy on introducing and explaining the mechanics as they did tailoring the game to existing fans.

Such a great game, far better than the previous chapters. Disgaea 4 has new, high definition sprites, a revised gameplay, more depth and great value since you could easily play it for hundreds of hours. Definitely the best srpg on ps3 along with Valkyria Chronicles. Collapse

Disgaea 4 will never make sense to someone unfamiliar with the history of the series. So therefore if you fall into this category I suggest you look elsewhere. For fans of the genre and the series, however, this is the day you've been waiting for. A true tour de force, delivering all we have ever wanted and more in the neat contents of a blu - ray disk. Plot, visuals, game play and comedy. It has it all, and then some. Expand

The most badass strategy RPG of all time comes back! The game boasts new HD graphics, new features such as the Cam-Pain room, torturing enemies, and online features. The main-game will have you log in about 50 hours in the game, and that's just barely scratching the surface to the amount of depth in this game. The voice-overs are great as usual, and the game includes the original Japanese dub if you prefer that. My only gripe would be the story, since it feels like nothing happened really. All-in all though, one of the must-buys for any RPG fan. Expand

After the godawful writing that plagued Disgaea 3, this is a welcome return to form. This one has far fewer characters you want to bludgeon to death, and some pretty witty writing. Gameplay is similar to previous installments, with some refinements and very upgraded graphics. Oh, and you can fuse two prinnies into a giant prinny. So what's not to love about that? This is aimed entirely at fans of the genre, and those fans will go away happy. ps - Ignore Merrill4Life, he's a known Bioware shill and only exists to try and prop up the failure that is Dragon Age 2.
