  • Summary: An alternative to the Young Driver Test in-game is a new driver evaluation system. Players are launched right into a one lap race when they load F1 2014 for the first time, and the game then suggests an appropriate difficulty level.

On the whole, I found last year’s F1 to be enjoyably inoffensive, which is why F1 2014 is such a pleasant surprise. It makes for a great series swansong on PS3 (or, at least, I assume F1 will make the generational leap next year), and is just about the pinnacle of visual presentation for a racer on these tired old gaming boxes we’re still keeping around.

While we wait for a next-gen F1 game, we can still enjoy an all-round game that puts you into the suit of one of the world's championship drivers. Fans and pro gamers of the genre will most likely enjoy the wide variety of options the game offers, in order to bring an experience as real as possible.

Very similar to what we've been playing the last few years, F1 2014 is a game that needs a generation leap sooner than later.

New cars are fun to drive and it's as accessible as ever, but F1 2014 has largely failed to evolve beyond past games in the series.

I just hope that F1 2015 has an engine for the new generation of consoles and puts the series back on track.

Even as downloadable content this would seem exploitative, but trying to pass it off as a new game is only a formula for disappointment and resentment.

F1 2014 is everything people hate about annualized sports games. Not just a carbon copy of the 2013 model, but also a game that fails to capitalize on some of the biggest changes the sport has ever seen. Worst of all, many of the franchise's best features have been removed. It's clear this was an afterthought as the developers worked on the truth next-generation sequel.

Featuring the new F1 2014 cars that has turbo charged V6 engine, it is definitely not old in anyway. The cars are extremely fun to drive and you will enjoy it the moment you start driving it. Furthermore, using the PS3 controller to play this game is also not a bad idea as you can control the car in this game relatively well without trouble as compared to other years of the F1 game. So it will be highly recommended game if you enjoy playing and experience driving an F1 car be it on controller or driving wheels :) Expand

Yeah it lacks the classic content of last year, and is basically the same game, but it's bridging the gap since code masters are putting all their effort into the PS4/ Xbox One versions. Yeah it's the same as 2013 and 2012, but nobody was complaining about those games were they? Also the hybrid engines and rule changes help freshen the game up a tad. But the reason I have given this game a 7 is because this is as far as the PS3, which I have been playing it on, can go with regards to graphics etc. obviously it's going to be disappointing for all the next gen users out there, such as myself. But as long as you are an F1 fan, this is the only game you will need... Until March/ April time... Expand

I knew from the start that this was going to be similar to F1 2013 due to Codemasters working on F1's next gen debut in 2015, but it was still poor to see. For the positives, the new rules for this season are implemented in the game pretty good and the new driving style has made the gameplay of F1 2014 much different from it's past counterparts on that front. The AI is also more aggressive and makes racing them fun, aside from the first lap where they still are too slow and you can take your Marussia from 22nd to about 8th-10th.

However, it's still a far cry from F1 2010 and F1 2011. Still no immersive career, alongside with not being able to choose your own number which was introduced this year and what MotoGP games have been doing since 2001, still the same menu as F1 2013, no classic mode, a pointless scenario mode and temperamental online means F1 2014, although good gameplay wise, is stale and boring. If you want to buy it, go ahead because it's decent, but I'd rather play past F1 games and the rFactor mod that's available.

They have added some new tracks and have added the ability to race in the rain which makes this years F1 game stand out a little bit. But if you have F1 2013 there is no need to buy this and if you want to buy an F1 game then don't get this, get 2013 cause it has classic cars. This game is strictly for F1 fanatics who don't mind wasting money. Expand

You're left with same graphics, less content and same old game you had before. 2014 teams & drivers update are not worth of a completely new game (which isn't new to be fair). Should've been a cheap DLC for 2013 game. Expand
