  • Summary: Alma returns in F.E.A.R. 3 but this time her sons Point Man and Paxton Fettel introduce divergent co-op, giving players distinctly different abilities affecting their own play as well as the experience of their co-op partner. Gamers participate in single player or co-op modes as Point Man, a genetically enhanced super soldier originally introduced in F.E.A.R., or they can play cooperatively as his conniving brother Paxton Fettel, whose incredible telekinetic power has given him life beyond the grave. F.E.A.R. 3 is a fantastic FPS game that blends exciting combat with plenty of scares and non-stop suspense.

The controls are tight and responsive, the story is well-written and intriguing, that continuous fear factor is a huge bonus, and the Challenge system for ranking up forces you to experiment.

F.E.A.R. 3 is a good shooter but never surpasses the very first F.E.A.R. game. The gameplay is very smooth and you'll be playing this campaign multiple times because of the co-op and the different gameplay elements each brother possesses. F.E.A.R. 3 lacks scary moments and that is a pity, seeing how this used to be a key element in the series.

A welcome treat, if only for its nerve-grinding atmosphere. The campaign is far too short-with Fettel, you could probably whiz through it in three or four hours-but the multiplayer modes are a lot of fun.
  5. While F.E.A.R. 3 is at its best as a solid(and fun)co-op shooter, it stumbles as an addition to the series. [Sept 2011, p.82]

Maybe if it inspired loss of bladder control in the same way the original did - or, better still, how Monolith's Condemned did - it might have been slightly more memorable. FEAR 3 is sadly lacking in the fear department, and has subsequently lost its defining characteristic.

This is so much fun. Play with your buddies in multiplayer, it's a blast! The single player campaign is great, only to be made even more enjoyable by having a friend join you in a unique divergent co-op experience! Expand

Superb game; another real gem from WB who have clearly ramped up the quality of their games by several notches. Graphically stunning, excellent intuitive mechanics, addictive and well paced Campaign Mode. Even the soundtrack is notable - something which a lot of titles simply overlook. Yet to play multiplayer so cannot comment. A surprise must buy! Expand

Another amazing Graphic improvement. I love how you can play as both brothers, I always enjoy the creepy moments and pops ups. The Final boss was a nice touch since the other games didn't really have a boss to kill. Expand

The F.E.A.R. series started out as a scary game that would have things jumping out at you and scaring the pants off you. Now it seems that the series has done what Resident Evil 5 did, made a horror series co-op and suck the scary right out of the game. I think I was more scared of Pokemon than this game to be honest. That was a disappointing feature to the game along with the soundtrack. In the first two games of the series, the music really gave the games an eerie feeling. In this one, not so much. Don't get me wrong this game is a lot of fun. With its good cover system (Very similar to Killzone's), ability to play as Paxton Fettel or Pointman, co-op campaign play, and unique multiplayer games, this game does have a lot to offer. But if you are looking for something to actually spook you a bit, play the first F.E.A.R. over again or F.E.A.R. Files. Expand

Great sequel in a fantastic franchise, a little less scary, but makes up for it in action and a great co op experience, with unbelievable replay value. Expand

Here we go again-another positive review from dazigz. This guy must really like it in the mouth. First he loves the cartel and now fear 3 . What's next-section 8? I don't know what's scarier-this guys love of crappy games or how much he loves to pound sand. Expand
