Turning a pristine landscape into grand palaces and irrigation systems using your own two hands while things try to kill you isn’t just an amazingly rewarding gaming experience, it’s a clever retelling of human history.

As long as you know the basics, you’re set to build whatever you can think up, be it a castle with a moat, or a roller-coaster, although at the moment, you might have to shrink it down a size.

It's the excellent game it always has been, with as much to get out of it as you're willing to put in. [Issue#240, p.62]
  4. It’s taken a while, but Minecraft has arrived in all its creative, daunting and addictive glory. [March 2014, p76]
  5. The game that changed games arrives on PlayStation in fine form with an improved crafting system, tarnished only slightly by a cramped map size. Until the full-fat PS4 Edition arrives, this’ll do nicely.

PC purists may still scoff but this is an excellent version of one of gaming’s most open-ended and creative experiences.

Minecraft retains its charm even on Playstation 3, and still represent an excellent opportunity to get into this gorgeous universe.
  8. Feb 19, 2014
Even though the scale of this edition is not as grand as its PC sibling, by now you definitely know what to expect from Minecraft.
  9. Jan 22, 2014
Minecraft is still a major hit on PlayStation 3.
  10. Jan 14, 2014
A good port of Minecraft, nearly identical to the Xbox 360 one. The PC version is bigger and better, but this is a quality console experience.
  11. Jan 7, 2014
Minecraft comes to PS3 with a renewed and simplified crafting system. It's a great port of an amazing PC game. Perfect for new players.

The PlayStation 3 version of Minecraft is as good as earlier releases on other platforms. Everything is included in the package and the game is still a lot of fun to play, in single-player mode or with your friends with splitscreen. A true builder has to pick this game up.

So finally we've got Minecraft on PlayStation 3 and it was well worth the wait.

There will always be players who get upset by the lack of pace, scenery apathy, or lack of clarity of purpose, my advice is to insist, Minecraft does not push you to the roller coaster, it invites you to come and discover, and then conditions you without mercy in a world of infinite possibilities.

It's hard to recognize PlayStation 3's Minecraft version as a port, due to its well polished graphic engine, its simple but efficient adaptation to DualShock 3 controls and a well made online mode. With these results in mind, nobody could complain for the delay of the game's release.
  16. Dec 31, 2013
Always a classic, Minecraft is as fascinating as ever on PS3 although limited in comparison to the PC version.
  17. Dec 26, 2013
Minecraft's arrival on the PS3 is exactly what you may have expected, as this is still the same addictive, quirky, and humorous title that's been available on the PC for years.
  18. Dec 20, 2013
Once again, Minecraft offers that unique experience that holds endless hours of fun.
  19. Jan 7, 2014
This Minecraft Edition is a simplified version, perfect for everyone and for who has never experienced the PC version.

This game is basically minecraft 1.5. It has almost all of the features from the pc version. The controls are unusual but this is minecraft in all of its pixelated glory. You will be used to the controls in an hour Full Review »

Even if this game got a PlayStation 3 version, it is still very overrated and boring. There are so many better games to buy on PS3 and on the market if you're planning to get this disappointment on another system. Full Review »
