  • Summary: The brutal offroad racing festival is back, with players this time attempting to tackle the diversity and unpredictability of a remote Pacific island environment. MotorStorm: Pacific Rift revisits the intense racing action introduced in last year's MotorStorm, this time allowing players to navigate a radically different tropical environment chock full of lush jungle, towering peaks, and crystal-clear water. Players experience a greater selection of tracks and vehicles to choose, as well as extensive multiplayer options including four player split screen and races with up to 20 players online. Additionally players can utilize a new photo mode to save images within the game and for the first time be able to take music from their PS3's HDD to create a customized soundtrack. [Sony] Expand

The PS3's most dramatic and beautiful racing game. [Issue#172, p.72]
  2. If you're looking for a racing game on which to spend your holiday cash, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift definitely deserves a look.
  3. MotorStorm: Pacific Rift takes everything enjoyable about the original (great graphics, hectic races, multi-route tracks, etc.) and adds a lot more variety from the new locale.
  4. As a racer, Pacific Rift hits all the gears – it just lacks that extra one to kick things into overdrive.

Great game. Everything is improved from the 1st game. More tracks, vehicles, music and MONSTER TRUCKS!! Single player is great. 2 player split screen is also brilliant. I've tried 3 player too but even on a 40" screen it gets a bit awkward to see where you're going. Still a laugh though. I actually enjoyed it when I got flattened by a monster truck during one of the single player races! It was hilarious! Expand
  2. MotorStorm: Pacific Rift is a fantastic game. The racing style may seem crazy and arcadey at first glance, but in actual fact you have to drive very skillfully to gain good positions as the difficulty increases. Breaking, control and well utilized boosts are the keys to victory here. If you drive like a wild man, you'll soon end up in Respawn Central with a one-way ticket to last place. That said, the game still offers a glut of breakneck, crazy fun; punching riders off motorcycles, crushing buggies under the wheels of a monster truck, nudging other racers off the cliffs... Great stuff! The local multiplayer is also unbelievably good and playing split-screen with friends is an endless riot. Get a few players together who know their way around the game and... Oh yeah, it's party time! The graphics are also worth a mention in the 'That's Awesome' department too. Motorstorm is truly one of the best looking games on PS3. There isn't much to say about Pacific Rift in the negative, in fact the only things that spring to mind are; A: the overbearing soundtrack (just turn the volume down in the options). B: The minimalistic bare-bones online racing (a more pertinent and disappointing problem). But these problems in no way ruin the fun that Motorstorm delivers. Expand
  3. Nice sceneries and okay handling. Very enjoyable with friends especially when launchig of a cliff in a high speed motorcycle, bumping each other mid air. Not the best story and the translation of some things could be a lot better, but still, a decent arcade racer. Expand

Worst game ever, the Wii has racing game with better graphics. The game stutters all over the place as the PS3 can't run game. I am on my 5th PS3, as PS3's break down all the time. All my friends had to ship back all of their PS3's because they broke. Expand
