  • Summary: Set in a brutal, alternate 1950s universe, America has been successfully conquered and destroyed by the deadly Chimeran race, forcing the last remaining human survivors to seek refuge in hiding. Players must take on the role of Joseph Capelli, the last surviving Sentinel from a clandestine military program, as he comes out of hiding to journey across a land of ruin in a heroic fight for survival against the merciless Chimera. In addition to an epic single-player campaign, Resistance 3 will offer two-player online or split-screen co-op through the single-player campaign, and a new, focused progression-based multiplayer experience. Resistance 3 should not be overshadowed by any other game this holiday season as it gives a unique and action-packed adventure from beginning to end.

Delivers a solid story, dense atmosphere and lots of fancy weapons to play with. It's also kind of retro in design and gameplay – in a positive way. But: The singleplayer-campaign is shorter, the boss-battles are less demanding and exciting than those of Resistance 2. Being a first person shooter with a sci-fi-background, Resistance 3 also has to be compared to Killzone 3. And that's a battle Resistance 3 clearly loses.

It's great when it comes to shooting techniques and weapons, it's bestowed with a desperate and truly well crafted atmosphere, yet it falls short on delivering a great finale to the saga, at least naratively speaking. The good multiplayer side adds even more value to it as an FPS, making it a great choice for every fan of the brand.

They say the show must go on and in the Resistance world there are still questions to be answered, but the disappointing nature of this third instalment and its failure to deliver at retail most likely means this is the last release in the series. Perhaps such an end is the best option all round.

  1. I don't care what anyone says. This is the best Resistance so far. The online is not a cluster **** like the previous games and they took out over powered weapons like the Wraith from R2. I'll admit, I do miss the co-op, but I still Love this game. Expand
  2. I was given resistance 3 as a gift, so I decided to play the game with both the ps sharpshooter and a normal ps3 dual shock. Keep in mind this is the first time I've ever touched the sharpshooter. Any who, the controls with the dual shock are great, the game is handled well as a FPS controls should be. They can be customized as well to make minor tweaks so that makes things twice as great. As to the sharpshooter, I hate this thing to death. It's awful. I tried adjusting the settings and just could not figure out the life of me how to make it not terrible. I've had the same problem with some of the wii fps and they are nearly unplayable for me, thank god for the dual shock, but anyways this is not a wii review, this is a resistance 3 review. I love the resistance series probably one of my favorite fps series ever, Insomniac did not fail to disappoint with R3. The story isn't that long it may have taken me a little over 10 hours which is around the standard time it takes to complete a FPS these days. The only sad thing is I am still left wanting more knowing that this is the final resistance game. Sounds were great, voice acting also top notch. Graphics don't seem very colorful but they are good. Guns look snazzy and just as creative as the other resistance games, the mutator gun became my favorite instantly for its hilarious effects. Watching enemies vomit was amusing. I don't think there are as many guns as in resistance 1 but theres still a lot. I was a little disappointed that the ending didn't show much more. Regardless still another solid PS3 exclusive fps to add to the collection. I didn't play the MP wasn't much interested so I can't really say anything of it. Alone the game is worth playing for the single player, worth giving a rental unless you can find a cheap copy or get it for free. Expand
  3. Resistance 3 is a wonderful game. The story is amazing, and the controls are fluid that even my friend who's used to playing pc games can play it. Campaign: The story is well thought out but can seem lazy at times. The campaign is like a roller coaster when it comes to difficulty, from being a cakewalk to it just ramming you with snipers and nearly impossible hoards of enemies. What i dislike about the campaign is 1. Sometimes it just gets too impossible that you need to just put it down for a minute; and 2. That if one person dies when you're co-oping with someone, then it's basically a game over. Not as in "oh no, i can't do this alone" but as in "wtf, the game ended and now we need to start back here?." So the campaign does have some flaws, but those flaws can make it or break it for the players. Moving on to Multiplayer: Ah multiplayer, a large portion of the game that decides whether it's a buy or a rent to the player. The multiplayer is somewhat disappointing. with only few weapons but many perks, it does get boring after a little. There is no team balance, and you unlock weapons and perks based on level, together you get unbalanced games where the team that almost always wins are the ones with wildfires (the rocket launchers of this game), which are unlock only at a high level! And the killing sprees are just ridiculous. Not ridiculous as in "HOLY **** but ridiculous as in "Was that it?" Though don't get me wrong, the multiplayer can get a little wild and is worth playing. Overall Resistance 3 is just an amazing game with flaws that can shy a player away from buying it, but if you can overlook these flaws then you'll find yourself addicted to this game. Expand

When Resistance 2 came, a lot of players complained and said it was not a RESISTANCE TITLE. But they loved this game. In all honesty I waited 3 years for this game. Pre ordered it and got all the DLCs, and pre order bonuses. When I finished the campaign. I was furious. They took a franchise that was so good, and dug it right ground. Don't look at the positive reviews for this game. If this game was called something other than Resistance, it might have been a good game, but its not.

The story is around 5 hours long. The core mechanics that were present in the previous titles are gone. The protagonist was replaced with a good character, that was not properly played out in this game. The pacing of the story is off as well. The AI is crap.

What insomniac did in their 3 to 4 years of development was that they took everything Call of Duty stands for and Threw a coat of Resistance on it and called it their game. Resistance 3.

The only thing I found good about this game were the graphics and some of the detailing to the weaponry and it effects, such as the mutator, and the atomizer.

The game was also falsely advertised. In a trailer they show a group of people heading to new York together. And in another there is a little girl who begins to follow Capelli to NY as well. None of these details came into the game at all. You stuck with one other character for the time being. A lot of the road you were alone. Sure they had communication with certain characters but it made it feel forced. Many times when you would need dialog it was not there, and then at other times they threw it in for the hell of it.

As for MP, They got rid of the clan system, went from 60 players online to 16. Went from an all out war to a camp fest. Put in perks that allowed you to get ammo, and let you spawn with a rocket launcher. WOW Just shoot away and spawn trap. Players had no chance. The game went from Resistance to Call of Duty in 3 years. Sad.

The game was a really disappointing installment, and I am glad Insomniac is no longer on this franchise. This franchise is in need of a reboot. All thanks to this installment.
