  • Summary: Set in a brutal, alternate 1950s universe, America has been successfully conquered and destroyed by the deadly Chimeran race, forcing the last remaining human survivors to seek refuge in hiding. Players must take on the role of Joseph Capelli, the last surviving Sentinel from a clandestine military program, as he comes out of hiding to journey across a land of ruin in a heroic fight for survival against the merciless Chimera. In addition to an epic single-player campaign, Resistance 3 will offer two-player online or split-screen co-op through the single-player campaign, and a new, focused progression-based multiplayer experience. Resistance 3 should not be overshadowed by any other game this holiday season as it gives a unique and action-packed adventure from beginning to end.

Offers the same polished experience as the last two games in the series, only this time the action is more focused and tightly structured. Insomniac clearly wanted to make this game a more harrowing and personal experience, and by focusing its attention on a smaller, more personal story within the invasion, it has succeeded without question.

Fighting the Chimera has never been this much fun. Resistance 3 delivers with a strong atmosphere, expertly designed weapons and an engaging story. By far the best entry in the series yet.

Tightly balanced action and a superb array of guns make Resistance 3 a blast.

From the single-player campaign to co-op and competitive multiplayer, Resistance 3 is a considerably more intimate experience. It's arguably the best installment to date, but I still think Insomniac Games can do even better.

Resistance 3 is fast, furious and entertaining throughout but lacks the uniqueness that would boost it to the very top of the FPS ladder.

Resistance 3 stands as a whimpering end to a franchise that never quite found its stride. With a little more risk and less reliance on the successes of its peers Resistance 3 could have become the jewel in Sony's crown.

Love this game and how its a throwback to older FPS games where it wasnt hide behind walls waiting for your health to regen every 5 feet. Resistance 3 has a great and lengthy single player campaign, its very fun to play thru and even play through more than once.. add in you can co-op play the game locally or online and its really well done IMO. Multiplayer is the same fun game types found in most other FPS games... capture the flag, zone control, death match.. how you level up the awesome weapons adds to the fun and the weapons themselves in this game are top notch. Flaming shotguns, laser guns that lock on and bend around corners, and kill streaks that dont totally unbalance the game and have great weapons like the Augur to use for a few seconds.

Overall I think this is the FPS of the year on the PS3 and probably on all consoles.

MAN! some of you are rough. Let me start by stating if you have a 3D TV and haven't played a game in 3D yet, then pick this game up. It'll blow your mind. The presentation is awsome, the atmosphere is definitely eerie. It gives you a feeling of an America stuck somewhere between the 30's and 40's. Even though it takes place in the 50's (it's tough to innovate when your world has been overrun by aliens). The campaign gives you a sense of urgency as you travel about the map trying to end the Chimera invasion. Actually, the people have given up and you just want to survive at this point. The game is great. It's not COD, or Battlefield, nor does it want to be. It's original on its own rite. No hide and heal here. It's more of kill some baddies and hope there is a health canister near by(in easier modes they are plentiful) I like this because it keeps you fighting without having to take a break and wait 5secs. to heal up. Just keep gunning and hope you run over one and then keep gunning and fighting. The weapons are far out, and the enemy death animations rival Gears of War. Over the top blood and limbs a flying everywhere. I have yet to dabble alot in multiplayer and will be doing so for the coming months. I recommend this game to all PS3 owners that want action and to FPS lovers. Like I stated, it's not COD or Battlefield but it does have nuances those games don't have, ala the heal system, atmosphere, almost feels like a blockbuster movie. Between Killzone 3, Uncharted, it doesn't get much better for PS3 exclusives this year. Expand

Just finished the campaign mode after my midnight pickup from Gamestop. To fans of the series, you will be very happy about what Insomniac has done to the game. It does feel a bit more arcadey as far the feel of the guns but I feel like it is definitely for the better. The upgrade system is fantastic and is a great addition. The story is everything you have come to expect from the Resistance series which is a definitely a plus and the dire situation injected into the story is perfectly conveyed throughout the entire game. I am going to play through again in co-op and finish upgrading my weapons and I haven't touched the multiplayer yet on the retail copy. Everything I experienced from the beta from the last month leads me to believe I am going to spend quite a bit of time with multiplayer from here on out. The multiplayer in my opinion is just as polished as COD, Halo & Battlefield but you are just dealing with a more basic concept in R3 and not as intricate. The single player competes with any of those games as well and is very immersive so I would suggest this game to newcomers to the series as well. I could not have asked for any more in my Resistance experience. Expand

this is a great game with the best story in the series and the multiplayer is really fun the only thing that i wished they would have done is kept certain aspects of the multiplayer and put it in with the new stuff they added to it and mixed them together the graphics are decent but that doesnt bother me much Expand

The first thing that will stand out in Resistance 3 is how remarkably short the game is compared to other games in the FPS genre. That's not inherently a bad thing, but a surprise since so many highly anticipated FPS tend to stretch the campaign for that grandeur atmosphere while playing the game. Personally I think concise campaigns do a better job than longer campaigns overall. Furthermore, I feel the length of the campaign fitted well within the structure and style of the gameplay. It's a decent FPS experience. It has no innovation or creativity but it keeps up to the par with all the standards of a normal FPS experience. It's not a blockbuster ,but still competent enough to warrant a buy. The multiplayer mimics alot of Call of Duty gameplay, but maintains just enough difference to keep you interested. Whether the multiplayer will sustain players like COW is yet to be determined. Like I said its a decent shooter without any innovation. Expand

I really enjoyed the first game fall of man,the story was good you knew what to do and where to go,it looked nice was atmospheric and played really well, then the sequel came and everything that was good about the original went out the window to be replaced with a tedious trial and error game where you died every 10 seconds because enemies would just spawn out of nowhere all around you, and you'd be lost as to what do do and where to go,but you did occasionally get allies and hints but it was still very confusing at times, then number 3 games along which the reviews said brought back most of what was good about the original, well they were lying because the only thing bought back is the weapons wheel and everything else about it is more of the second game but even worse, this is one incredibly tedious game riddled with trial and error game-play,they do attempt to tell the story a bit,but it's lame and makes little sense as it doesn't tie in with the other games,it seams the developer unlike people in general hasn't learned from it's mistakes, but they probably don't care once they have your money,so more fool me for buying this P.O.S of a game,I'd say it's not even worth a rent,I am not sure about the multi-player,but the campaign is very bad in deed.
