  1. This is a rugby relic from a bygone age. [Oct 2011, p.116]

Everything about this game screams "minimal effort".

Unfortunately Rugby World Cup 2011 is not worth the money it costs – not even for a rugbyplayer or -fan.

Laughable next to other sports titles, like FIFA, despite being technically competent. [Nov 2011, p.91]

Rugby Would Cup 2011 is a poor game. Poorly made, poorly executed, and lackluster title, that causes an insatiable need to cleanse oneself after being played. It's not a top tier game, and shouldn't be regarded as one, so just leave it be and no one will get hurt.

Rugby World Cup 2011 feels almost like the "lite" version of a more fully-featured game - as though you should get this for a pittance before paying an additional fee to unlock the rest, like so many iPhone games. Only in this case there's nothing more to get - other than a refund.

Not the worst sports game ever made, and capable of producing some enjoyment in multiplayer mode. But it won't last, will get annoying, and you will get very bored. [Issue#209, p.94]

Technically competent, but a woeful simulation of a sport consistently ignored by gaming. This won't help... [Nov 2011, p.107]

Limited licences, stripped features, and disappointing presentation make Rugby World Cup 2011 disappointing to even the most ardent fans of the sport.

In a year that has seen plenty of top-notch sports games, this is arguably the worst of the lot.

Even though Rugby World Cup 2011 feels like an "old" title gameplay-wise and in terms of production values, the not-so demanding enthusiasts may find it to fit their liking, but maybe not as a full-price purchase. We'd rather wait for a less opportunistic version with better visuals and more gameplay choices to be completely satisfied.

At the end of the day, it is frustrating enough for New Zealand sports fans and gamers that rugby and cricket titles are so few and far between, and that they will never be made on the sort of budgets that Madden or Pro Evolution Soccer enjoy. To then be presented with such a cynical, half-hearted effort as Rugby World Cup masquerading as a legitimate contender with a full-retail price tag only adds insult to injury.

very fun game but it gets boring real quick. :( There are lots of visual glitches were you might get tackled through a ruck also if you kick off there is a about a 1 in 3 chance that your player will automatically tap tackle the other teams catcher in mid air and give away a penalty which is really frustrating because you cant do anything about it. Its very fun to run the pitch with the ball and sidestep everyone and if you hand off people you faceplant them into the ground which is fun. Overall not bad game and with minor fixes could get a 9/10 :) Full Review »

Wow, where to start with the flaws or bugs in this game?
This is nothing more than the previous version, with updated names and logos, and
way more flaws in the gameplay.
Here are some examples: 1. It is basically impossible to defend the attacking cross-kick when you are defending in your 22. All the top teams use it and will score nine times out of ten as by the time you get a chance to switch to control your wing, it is too late. 2. If you are viewing from behind (not the side) it is impossible to see what is going on when you are defending. The camera does not â

just played the demo...Yeah the price is a little bit akward (49.99)... But this game is FUN! Im not an expert about rugby, but all i know is that it did not take long before i was able to understand how to play the game. Everybody can learn in like 5 min! I dont know why critics are comparing it with games like madden or fifa... Its really not the same budget and how many decent games of rugby have you played in your life? Me, thats sure is the first decent one. Im not going to bash it... it's absolutely not the sports game of the year but it deserve to give it a chance and Im sure that like me, you'll have a lot of fin with it
(btw : sorry for my english :S it's not my primary language)
