  • Summary: SKATE delivers the feel of skating through innovative controls, authentic cameras and a fully reactive skateboarding city. The game features professional skaters such as Danny Way and PJ Ladd, as well as a reactive city and relevant in-game cameras. SKATE's unique control scheme captures the true feel of skating versus the typical button mashing gameplay of past skating games. Featuring physics-driven animations, gamers will have a unique gaming experience every time they pick up the controller since no two tricks will ever be the same. [Electronic Arts] Expand

With its organic controls, beautiful visuals and amazing presentation, it quickly becomes an addicting experience that's tough to stop playing, even during some of the most frustrating parts of the game.
  2. Not only are the controls and attributes of the gameplay itself consistently representative of the chosen sport, but everything from the gloriously dynamic soundtrack and the competition commentary through to the selection of legendry skaters and the division of challenges into schools of skating hits the nail on the head with prowess.
  3. Punishingly difficult but ultimately rewarding, games of Skate's caliber are a rare breed and as far as first attempts go, it's been years since we saw one this accomplished. Just... sick, man.
  4. A fun, addictive skateboarding game that's just a little camera work and a few control refinements short of stardom.
  5. If you are a skating fan, it will be a game worthy of your cash. Even if you are not a fan, you just might find yourself having a blast ollieing all over the joint with a rental.
  6. In a funny way it may turn out that the Tony Hawk's games needed the arrival of skate as much as skate needed the existence of Tony Hawk's to make it what it is - the new home of skateboarding, at least for the time being.
  7. A technically strong game tailored to hardcore skaters (and people up for a really serious challenge), this one will alienate casual gamers, as the learning curve can be excruciating.

Skate stood out to me due to its open world and graphics. Its world is full of things to do. Its the open world that really made me come back to it so many times afterwords. The story here is also ace. Starting the bottom of the hierarchy of skaters to the top you eventually work your way to the XGAMES. Which is overall brilliant and trumps any other skateboard games story even to this day. Especially due to how good the customization of your skater is. Its controls are what really matters here though. They are smooth and rewarding. Meaning no matter how you skate you'll enjoy it. Expand

this game is compleatly awsome and amazing up until the point where it gets so hard it is impossible to continue in the career. the graphics the game play and everything about this game is amazing but i cant give this game a high score because there is a point in the game where it is impossible to go any farther in the game due to the difficulty.
