A very mediocre game from developer Artoon just like their last effort "Bullet Witch." If you love the genre then you might consider this one a rainy day at the bargain bin. [JPN Import]
Decent stealth elements and a fun Live play can't quite redeem what is a deeeply shoddy game. This is the next-gen era of gaming, so why does this feel like it's from 1997 and not 2007? [JPN Import, Issue 24, p.75]
It is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. They just do not know how to have some fun with this game. The pros of this game include a eerie environment and soundtrack, difficult enemy's, long campaign, trails, tutorials, multiplayer and a lot of cut scenes. The cons include no pre-mission weapon selection, bad voice acting, sub-par graphics, wacky story, bad ending and nearly all achievements are multiplayer only...
The game itself is fun. Splinter Cell combined with Vampires is awesome. The enemy's are not as difficult as what people say either. For the most part you are not supposed to openly engage nightwalkers in the open, but instead sneak around them. Once you get the sniper, shotgun and uv knife you can easily kill entire groups of enemy's. Even if you do not have those weapons, you can still kill nightwalkers with the submachine gun or assault rifle just by being large distances away from the enemy's. Now, the story is fairly stupid, but fits the game well and I quite enjoyed the plot twits near the end. There are a lot of cut scenes in this game. Maybe a bit too much at times, nonetheless I enjoyed watching them. The environment is awesome. An empty city filled with vampires and rain is cool. There are even some missions with entirely different locations which help diversify the game. Later in the game a new enemy appears which blew my mind, as I did not expect them at all. The game has massive replay value, with you being scored on certain missions and being able to find medals and unlock trials and tutorials. There is a multiplayer mode, but I did not try it as there are no people playing it... The multiplayer seemed okay, but the part I hate about this game the most is that nearly all the achievements are multiplayer only! For completing the entire campaign I only got fifty Gamerscore. That is extremely stupid.
In conclusion it is a decent game which is fun to play for two days.
vampire rain is a good game it got very bad reviews back in the day around last year i found it for £2 at a shop i did not play it until november of 2022 i thought it was bad a first but i got more used to it and ive got to its not the best game in the world but i will give it a 7/10
The one shining moment through all this is the decent online multiplayer mode included. It’s pretty vanilla, but it runs great. Plus it’s possible to turn into a nightwalker should you be a bit too slow on the draw. It’s a very cool feature.
But when the game's core mechanics are middling at best, dragging other players into it is just asking for a reputation downgrade. When the world has so many better games to offer, you have to ask yourself "Why play this?"
A really underrated game that is really fun if you sit yourself into the Mechanics and enjoy a more slow pace but tvilling game.
The enemy are exodus scary to fight because they can kill you in one or two hits so you have to avoid them as much as possible and when you find get a gun that can kill den. You don't have enough bullets to really fight you have to pick your battles and it's so fun and interesting to do.
the weed of rain falls atmospheric the sound all around you and your surround sound and a feeling that this is the most scary and longest night in your life because the tension is always there you always feel like you're just a little stiff from dying and the gameplay and story show it
Any if you're into AA games, it's going to be a fun experience and it's a fun Japanese spin on a survival/stealth games.
Right, I've honestly had enough of those ''Critics'' saying the games a damn ''Shooter'', well I'm here to tell you something, Vampire Rain was a Next-gen stealth Vampire game back in 2007, the game starts the story very slow and you begin as a character who had survived the attack back a few years in the game, now I'm obviously making you think I'm a fanboy of this game, well, you might actually be right, when this game was released back in 2007, I was too scared to buy the game and play it as I was too young and it would've ended up giving me nightmares, guess what, without playing it, it did later on, this game was meant to be a good seller and a Next-gen, but it slightly failed, yes, the Graphics were ruff but they weren't that bad, the game resembles ''Splinter-Cell'' very much and I see no problem, so does the suit the character wears ''In'' the game, but that's alright, now, the voice acting isn't perfect and it isn't exactly good, but it gets the job done and at least deserves a clap for them giving it a try, the game was meant to be challenging but obviously dumb asses they're, they're viewing the wrong-side of this game, the games brilliant un-like they say, Vampires aren't over-powered, but they're slightly meant to be, you can kill Vampires just not Up-close.
Vampire Rain ****. That's all there is to it. Like the Earth spins, the sky is blue and dogs hump. Vampire Rain is a piece of **** One of the worst games I've ever played.
You truly can't appreciate just how BAD Vampire Rain actually is unless you play it. I heard the stories, a very difficult game about Vampires that was one of the worst titles on the Xbox 360. Now, I like a challenge and bad games never really bothered me, so I decided to pick this game up. This is what I learned from that terrible mistake...
Starting off with the multiplayer, you had an interesting concept. Guys who run around and shoot each other, but they could turn into Nightwalkers (vampires) and fight that way. If you're just in this for a quick dabble in the game, you can stop here and will only have to experience a taste of the horrible controls (X to ready your weapon, LT to cycle weapons, Y to crouch, B to perform actions, RB to reload), 2004 era PS2 graphics, wooden dialog, and awkward gameplay. For those who want to see what passes for a campaign in this shower, things are about to get MUCH worse.
The storyline is actually decently thought-out and coherent, but you won't care about it. You just won't, because the amount of time that passes between each cutscene is equivalent to reading 2 sentences of a book per night. You play as John Lloyd, a member **** organization that responds to Nightwalker threats as you infiltrate a Nightwalker infested town. Let me start off by saying that this game is quite long, with 24 missions, 23 trial levels, and 7 tutorials. Your performance is ranked at the end of each of this levels, and the qualifications for achieving an S rank are ridiculous. They are:
-No continues
-Minimum number of shots fired
-High accuracy
-As little damage as possible
-Every ammo pickup on the level (even though you very rarely even fire a gun)
Now, some of those are incredibly hard, especially on the last few levels where your enemies have guns. Just completing the game without these stipulations isn't exactly a cakewalk either, since getting spotted results in instant death. Usually you're armed with nothing but an assault rifle and pistol, and getting seen by a Nightwalker is a death sentence. You will get rushed and hit, which equals a swift death, which results in you restarting the entire level. There are no checkpoints, and some levels reach over 20 minutes long. Even if being spotted was an instant game over things would be less frustrating, since the game still feels the need to go through the motions of putting you in a fight that you can't possibly win under any circumstances.
What is there to say beyond that? One of the worst control schemes on the Xbox, coupled with a long and difficult game made even more frustrating by a horrendous combat system. Avoid at all costs.
1/10
A monumental failure in modern gaming Vampire Rain can be easily summed up with one word.
Unplayable.
I would rather grab a friend and instruct him to start hammering nails into my skull, than put myself through another second of this garbled, rushed, messy, broken, horrible pile of pig feces.
SummaryYou are a part of a Special Forces team tasked with removing the Nightwalkers in all their gore and supernatural strength before they overrun the world – and before the public finds out about them.
