I really don't understand the negative reviews. Maybe these people were expecting something other than what it is? Blue Estate is an on-rails shooter in the same vein as House of the Dead. It has great sense of humor, excellent characters and hilarious one-liners. The graphics are great, the art is impecable, and the challenge is just right on normal (increasingly harder after some levels). If you're really fast, Abnormal and Crazytrain difficulty should indulge your taste for pain.
Anyway, surpringly good and fun. My only complaint is that it's too short. Arcade mode (and the score board) should keep you occupied for some time, but the story itself can be finished in a couple of hours.
Fun, fun, fun!!!!!!!!!!! That's what I experienced while playing. People, why do you have to be so dull and boring? Looking for some philosophic matter in this rail shooter, talking about racist jokes, finding deep existential matter? It's just a rail shooter: fun, low priced, based on a really cool comic, written by a super cool dude. I'm 40, when i come back from office's hard day, I turn on my PS4 and what do I want? Right - to rest my brain))) So just beat it) Cool game, cool comic, cool me, everybody cool))))))))))))
Sure, in the end, it all depends how much you enjoy this ever moving shooting gallery with personality, and ultimately it will be the determining factor of your purchase.
I give Blue Estate a little credit and weigh it more on the side of challenging instead of on the side of failure, just because there were some fun parts and some people might love the long levels, testy controls, and the crazy story.
The game's crass humour, repetitive gameplay and cultural indelicacy results in a depressing relic that should be consigned to the same draw[er] as that lightgun peripheral you never use anymore. [Oct 2014, p.77]
I'd tried the leap motion version in October. And then this incredible PS4 version! I think it's the first game really using the potential of the PS4 pad. Really like it. New levels are really challenging on high difficulty. I guess it's the best rail shooter since long long time.
"Blue Estate" will be a guilty pleasure for some. It's an arcade-style light gun shooter that uses the PS4's motion controller technology. It can be fun, but the toilet humor is annoying not funny. Aiming at the screen takes some getting use to. But once you get the hang of it, the game becomes somewhat enjoyable. Levels can be a bit long, so expect some fatigue. Overall, if you like light gun shooters and low-brow humor, then you'll have fun. If you don't, then you won't. I would rate it with a 7 out of 10.
Surprisingly fun on rails shooter. The game is hilarious and that is the main draw of the game. Well at least to me. However the controls are very infuriating at times. The story is super short with almost no replay ability. Wait for it to go cheap on a sale.
A neat idea, a comedy on rails shooter using PS4 motion controls but after the first fights the calibration goes wonky and the rest of the game becomes about not moving (which breaks calibration) and fighting the controls which even if you don't move position slowly reared to the right.
If you love loud jokes and misogyny, that game is for you.
Cinematics are cool but I rather ther comic book.
Rail shooter with an oldschool gameplay...really too expensive for that crap.
