Dungeon crawlers aren't to everyone's taste, but you would be hard pressed to find a better one than Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls - Ultimate Evil Edition on consoles. This is the definitive version of an already great game, and it truly excels on the PS4.

New rewards for killstreaks, gifts to send along to your friends list, a nasty nemesis that dogs you and your friends just to remind you all that, hey, you’re each still playing Diablo III even though it came out two years ago and this is probably your fiftieth time killing the skeleton king. That’s the real magic of effective entertainment, executed so carefully, so precisely by the folks at Blizzard: familiarity that isn’t stale.

Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition is the game Diablo fans deserve. Granted, there are still areas to improve – Adventure Mode, for example, still feels a little like an experiment rather than the finished article – but this is as close to perfect as we’ve yet been.

Easily the biggest draw of the expansion is the new Adventure mode. Gone are endless Act III farming runs, replaced now with bounties and Nephalem rifts to explore across all Acts. Adventure mode is entered into separately from the story, and not bogged down by any quest related dialogue or shenanigans.

Perhaps the definitive version of Diablo 3, Reaper of Souls Ultimate Evil Edition is streamlined, buttoned-down and an absolute joy to play - especially so when you start adding friends.

What’s the most amazing to me, aside from forcing myself to think of any flaws and not finding any other than server issues, is how I rarely play a game more than once, yet there’s something about Diablo III that just beckons to the very core of my soul.
  8. This is the definitive version of Diablo III, both content wise and platform. [October 2014, p68]

Since its original debut two years, Diablo III finally receives its definitive edition. It includes the original game and the Reaper of Souls expansion and features amazing graphics, great controls, and polished gameplay. Throw in a few new features and this version is the one to play.

Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition is the best version of the famous game you can find in consoles. Many new mechanics added to the PS4 version, stacking with the already deep game mechanics, altogether with the chance to get the same improvements as the PC version in the future, makes it the best next-gen hack'n slash RPG.

The complete Diablo III experience is enjoyable played solo, but by allowing a combination of online and local cooperative play for up to four players and adding some fun new social tools, Blizzard has made this the cooperative game to beat on new-gen consoles. No matter your experience level with the game, this is an excellent time to dive in to the action.

The real star is still the ability to play on the couch with up to three friends, tearing through the angry hordes that await you in adventure mode, where the wildly randomized dungeons form the backbone of Diablo 3's endgame.

This is what Diablo III should have been at launch, a beautifully constructed, tightly honed experience designed to capture players and not let them go until it's 2am and they have work in the morning. With couch co-op, randomised dungeons, randomised enemies and a loot system worth actually using Diablo III: RoS: UEE on PS4 is the best way to play Diablo III.

For players who love killing things, building godly characters, and grabbing loads of awesome loot in the process, Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition is the biggest no-brainer purchase of this year.

The Ultimate Evil Edition is wonderful package for newcomers to the series that will bring them much joy. For existing Diablo fans the asking price might be a little high for something that in essence is little more than a expansion pack with nicer looking graphics.

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls - Ultimate Evil Edition isn't going to redefine your Diablo experience. It's bigger, shinier and has some nice new content, but in the end, it's the same game.

With an updated version of the original game and all the content from the Reaper of Souls expansion, Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition is a great experience that will keep you entertained for hours. A fantastic release of an already great game. There may just about be enough here for veterans of the original release and its expansion to return to the world of Sanctuary, but for those who’ve yet to experience it the PS4 edition is a truly excellent dungeon-crawling RPG, and the definitive console release, capable of providing hours and hours of gameplay.
  40. 90
This is the best version of Diablo III, possibly anywhere. Sure, it may look better on PCs with high-end graphics cards, but you can’t beat the control scheme and accessibility of the console version.

Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition feels like the happy conclusion of a two-year public beta, with the initial purchasers on PC bearing much of the grief with the auction house and the slow pace to reach level 60.

What console players won't be prepared for, though, is the added graphical fidelity on PS4 and Xbox One, making for a cleaner, brighter battle that feels in line with the PC version running on a nice machine.

Without a doubt in my mind, this is the best version of Diablo 3 that is available on consoles. The campaign itself is a solid and enjoyable adventure, but the Adventure Mode, Nephalem Rifts, and nearly endless loot is what will keep you coming back for more time and time again. Make sure to bring friends to maximize the fun.

Thankfully, small touches, such as ‘Apprentice Mode’, help the overall concept: players of different levels can still crawl together without the lower levelled character feeling useless.

A fantastic dungeon-crawler that is still mercilessly addictive two years after the fact, Diablo III turns out to be a surprisingly good console fit. Just don't leap at the chance to get a current-gen version if you already have it for the prior systems.

If you enjoy hack'n slash and want to spend a few evenings with good friends on Blizzard's title, this Reaper of Souls version is an excellent choice. You can have all the content from the original game and its expansion, plus high quality graphics to boot.
  52. If you are a console player you'll definitely love Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition. This Ultimate Evil Edition contains both Diablo III and the Reaper of Souls expansion set.

Having played Diablo titles exclusively on the PC, I was surprised to find out how well Diablo III plays on PlayStation 4. The gameplay is as addictive as ever and it's hard to fault the console version's local co-op and supersized loot drops. [Sept 2014]

The biggest reason to get this game is co-op, either online or offline. Especially if you own a next-gen console, as this game looks great and has much more depth than most next-gen games.

One year ago, Blizzard succeeded in adapting Diablo 3 on consoles, thanks to an all new way to play with a gamepad. Diablo III : Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Edition aims even higher : 1080p, 60fps, the huge content of the main episode and the expansion, some new things here and there; no doubt it is the Ultimate version of the game. If until now you were hesitating, there's no reason any longer.

The PS4 edition of Diablo 3 plays as the PS3 one, but has greater graphics and includes the contents of the DLC and the last patches. It's your chance if you missed this masterpiece.

I had a great time allowing Diablo III to steal my life. With its action packed dungeon diving, very engaging loot system and allowing you the ability to sit down and play with friends on your couch as well as playing online, this game chewed up entire days of my life before I realized I hadn’t eaten in 27 hours (sadly, true story).

Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition is as good as it could possibly get. The only problem it has is the obvious one; if you have the original release on PC, or on the last-gen consoles, it’s up to you if you want to spend $80 on an expansion pack. And is any expansion pack ever going to be worth the price of a full game? But, if you didn’t buy the original game, get this.

It's great with a group and fine if you're playing alone, but I'd still say that, if you're able, the PC version is the one to get unless you're specifically looking for a local co-op mode.

At first i was a little disappointed as although everything looks a bit shinier it doesnt look like THAT great an improvement graphically. Thats where the disappointment ended, Blizzard have changed the game in so many little ways from the PS3 that never even seemed to be an issue but they improved it anyway, too many to list here but as a fan of the first rendition on the PS3 i can say that this upgrade is worth every penny. Plus the new Crusader class was built for me i LOVE it! Also the fact the loading times are practically zero means this is already worth the money before you even started! Full Review »

I had to write a review after so many praises for this game. For me this game is really boring and repetitive. After playing 5 mins there is not much new you can do. Sure you can upgrade your gear, get new skills but basically its just same button smashing all over again.

Even the graphics are so boring that in the crypt you might accidentally run backwards for 5 mins before realising you have been there before.
The only reason to get this game is same coach co-op. But I would wait that the price drops to 15$ or less.
